Even if he gets eliminated in this round he still made it further than any if us. That's impressive.
Instead of nitpicking and cutting him down why can't you just say "congratulations"? You don't have to like him or listen to his music but why do you feel the need to cut him down?
Well said. Some of these poor pathetic people on this post, and I really think it is the same THREE people posting negative comments over and over again; don't even understand that they are jealous. They really don't get it. These three people justify their comments by putting their foot deeper and deeper into it mouthes. I am very glad for Shawn. He did a fantastic job. How many people in the world can say they were on the Voice. But I do feel sorry for these negative people who have angst and anxiety issues. If they could only try to be positive, they too might be able to accomplish something in life. Shawn could care less what these three people are saying. Why would he. You go Shawn. Thanks for making us proud!!!

Mother Teresa wrote this poem – Do It Anyway

People are often unreasonable,
illogical and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind,
people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful,
you will win some false friends and true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank,
people may cheat you;
Be honest anyway.

What you spend years building,
someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness,
they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today,
people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have,
and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis,
it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

You don't get it because you just can't comprehend it. Thinking someone is not that good at something has nothing to do with jealousy, nothing at all. It has everything to do with comparison and standards. You are using every other standard other than his "voice" to say that he is excellent. I'll be the first to say that considering the guy lost 70% of his hearing in 1 ear, he does a great job with that disability. But I'm sorry to say and you'll be sorry to hear, that average is average. I'll expect another round of "you're just jealous" replies because I doubt that you will have any comprehension of what I just posted.

"Pray" for those who have to hide behind religion to deny sad truth and hurl invective and disdain from behind a pulpit. Religious nuts are always using imaginary guy in the sky as an excuse to feign pitty rather than just admit it. He didn't win the people spoke but you have to cry and blame it "other people's jealousy". Go fck yourself weak minded moron. It's not my fault the guy lost and I simply don't care. Apparently most everyone watching felt and voted the same way.

These people are so mentally and culturally stunted they can't even talk. They're simply not happy unless they are putting someone down they will invent every excuse an upstate retard usually believes to keep telling themselves that. That's why Uticans LIE about just about everything they're starved for attention and recognition and go ballistic and cry like infants and make up all these infantile 7 year old's excuses and feel-good comments so they can still feel uplifted. Defensiveness substitutes for true pride and they don;t realize how obvious it is. If anyone is jealous it would be them because few people sit around and covet the things they're praising to the heavens about.

It's in their genes, it's a full blown sociological trait in upstate farmer city-wannabee people they hate anyone who just tells the truth the way it is.

I'm not a Jesus Freak, I was just messin' with you. It pleases me to see you get upset since you don't appear to care how others feel. I'm not saying he was the best singer in the world, I'm saying your response and your comments made you sound jealous. And you continue to do so. Try and be a better person. You will feel better and have a fuller life. Or continue to get your heart pumping over someone telling you the truth about yourself and your comments. Don't be an angry little person. Your choice.

This was a decent post to prove your point but you lost me when you called him or her a little person. You can prove your point without name calling and that shows a good character.

I am happy for the guy and hope that being on the voice can open up new doors for him. I am just wondering how all the other "Rock stars" In the valley are taking this. You know...they are "Rockstars" Big producers and recording artist...Big Fish in little pond is all they are...But Shawn on the other hand is the one who ends up on TV...good for him!!...One of them was a jerk on facebook one day and posted a nasty comment about someones music they made..then quickly erased it so no one could see him being a jerk...He must think he is the best their ever was around hear...I forgot..he is a "Legend"I saw him and his band of clowns walking around sangertown mall one day...like big rockstars..In UTICA NY...what a joke.I thought maybe I was in 1985 or sumthin...Like he was a big time producer or sumthin...BIG FISH>>>LITTLE POND....GO SHAwN!!!
AGT and American Idol

The Voice is no better than America's Got Talent or American Idol. The original selling point was that this show was going to be based on someone's singing talent and not the same garbage as the other shows. But it's quite clear that the only people who make it past the initial judges and get a shot on the show are people who are quirky or have some kind of story that the show can market. Good luck to your local celebrity on the show, but please understand that the reason he even made it on the show was because of his backstory. And injured service vet that lost a good portion of his hearing. It certainly isn't because of an above average voice. It's a shame that this show had promise in the beginning but has turned into nothing more than another regurgitated version of Star Search.

He didn't win. He's going nowhere so he better be good to those no name producers and the other rockstar wannabees like him. I say again, it's funny that the main reason people work for success there seems to be in order to put someone else down or tell themselves how "jealous" everyone must be. Nobody there has the talent, realistic outlook or tenacity or network to go anywhere. That's why no-one FROM there ever got very far.

He might not have won..but he did way more than they prob ever will do and got his name out there in the process. he expanded himself beyond Utica ny and Saranac Thursdays and had huge exposure. no one can ever take that away. perhaps he can build on it. he doesn't need to be nice to the "Rockstars" who go out and strum their banjos and harp on their little fittles playing the part of "Rockstar" while their wives earn all the money in their house.

Ok I got you but you're not getting me. And good for him they can't take it away because to the people who care that's like death hahaha! This is my point- Expanding himself/name all the way to the Pacific and having huge exposure isn't going to pay for the real dreams in life. If he is as intelligent as people think he'll exploit this and release a real CD he doesn't produce himself he'll be another Utica Wikipedia "famous people" subject. I never saw a city so obsessed with TV shows and trying to compare themselves to Hollywood like that haha! It's really bizarre. Sorry but it is and you can't say you don't see how overstated everything is.
Fame is the last thing someone wants. It has unstoppable and bad downsides. Better to take it to the bank and lay low.
This is what people on the Utica forum don't get a lot of the time. When you've seen fame and excess that bad and the people it attracts into your world you realize what a losing game it is in your and your family's life. That's flirting with disaster. If he wants to go have his Warhol 15 cool but don't insult those who really don't consider this the center of the universe. At least he's a lot less ikish than the magician guy.

U might think my comment is nuts..but it is true. even if he never gains anything from this, more people saw him and cheered for him than the big fish from around here. Big names in music also liked him..Good job buddy!!...let all the rockstars play at Saranac Thursday or some crummy bar on varick street while their wives are working.
