Cool! Someone from the area made it on the show!

I thought the song choice was odd though. It seem didn't show much vocally...just a fun song.

Yeah was a fun song, but he coulda chose something to show off his voice more. Hope to see lots of him and good songs choices this year!

Too bad he's an arrogant, self centered jerk.

I am sure he will make for good TV though, so did Jersey Shore.

And next up, the man who met Andy Griffith! Hey, good for him. He's a decent singer but nothing to write home about. Poor song choice and very surprising that he got picked considering the performance was mediocre at best. Not trying to be completely negative, just trying to keep it real.

Nothing to do with jealousy and everything to do with reality. Another sign of the mentality in this area..denial. Let someone have an opposing opinion of something that has been deemed "excellent" and the "you're jealous" reply gets brought up. You might have a different opinion if you were able to judge him by his actual performance from an unbiased viewpoint instead of a groupie viewpoint. I didn't say the kid was horrible, just consider him to be average at best. Jealous...lol!

If their parents aren't that sophisticated or involved in helping the kids understand and fix the problem or understand it, they teach the little ones to just deny and defend by claiming they're just jealous. By 7-8 kids (at least the normal ones) outgrow it. In Utica, they don't evolve emotionally past 13-14 and use those childlike defenses for life.
This same thing happened on that stupid Nano Nano center thread earlier.
I don't always agree with you Hob, but I have to agree with you on this one. I wished the kid luck in an earlier post. I was just "voicing" (pun intended) my personal opinion of his skills. I hope he goes all the way. It's only the people who reply with the "jealous" statement that are judging talent by other factors. Same goes for the magic act that was on America's Got Talent. Lackluster at best but everyone in this area was promoting him like he was a legend.

everyone has an opinion..that is fine. We all should be able to express ourselves. However, it is very hard to tell someone's "skill" in 90 sec. Why not go and listen to this guy sing. He is in a band called Showtime and also a duo called Poor Tim. It is funny how quick people are to judge( no pun intended). I sincerely hope that in your lifetime, those around you don't judge you on just 1 thing you have done, that is not very fair is it?? Because we all know, we are the total of all that we have experienced. Not just a few moments in time. I for one think this is a great opportunity for anyone on the show and it opens up a world of possibilities for them. There are many things that happen behind the scenes that we have no idea about. For those who wish him well, good for you, you have spoken well and forthright, even if you were not thrilled with the performance. For those who make nasty comments, you are not showing anything but your immaturity and shallowness. Whether this young man makes it or not, at least he had the courage to try... Best of luck
Shawn.Good things will happen no matter the outcome.

You're right that everybody has an opinion should be able to express it. I expressed mine based on "90 seconds" of him on the show AND being at multiple shows of both Poor Tim and Showtime. The kid does a decent job but is by no means a superstar talent. Maybe for this area it appears that way but that's not saying much. Part of the issue is that local people will judge him by being "one of their own" instead of the more important criteria which is his actual ability. My comments weren't "nasty, immature or shallow" and weren't intended to be. They were an honest opinion and critique based on my opinion of his "skill". And as I stated before, I wish him luck and hope he continues on with the show. That being said, there are many people who make a career out of the music biz who aren't top notch when it comes to their chosen "talent". And once again, I wish him all the luck possible and the same to anyone else who gives it a shot.

Meanwhile all you fat pigs are sitting at home watching him. While you're sitting at the dunkin donuts drive-thru waiting for your coffee, this dude is actually chasing his dreams. Regardless if he's the best or worst, he's still done more than any of you would ever dream of doing. You're all jealous that someone else is making something of themselves while you're all stuck and your low-paying, ridiculous jobs. Hopefully you fat pigs can set down the laptop long enough to cheer someone on.

I wish the guy all the luck in the world... But he has to quit calling himself "Big Sexy", I will give him the Big part, but he has never been nor ever will be Sexy, and the continued use of the name makes him look like a ego maniac.
Oh well

The jealousy thing again, really? I'll make this simple for you. The show is about singing. It's called "The Voice". It isn't called "Is your guy popular enough locally to win". If anyone goes on a show called "The Voice" to be judged on their singing ability by a panel, then anyone, including yourself, has a lot of balls to get defensive about anyone who judges that person's singing ability. So you can throw your "everybody is just jealous" nonsense out in every post. All that does is highlight and reinforce the fact that YOU aren't judging him by his singing, you're judging him by a different set of circumstances. There are people out there who actually expect someone to be able to have an "above average" singing voice to be on a singing show named "The Voice". You obviously aren't one of them.

Exactly the answer I'd expect from someone who is jealous, insecure and overall loser. It must eat you alive knowing that you'll NEVER be at the level of anyone who ventures outside of Utica to better themselves. They should create a show called "Jealous Nobody's from Upstate NY". This way you too can make it to the next round! What's that sound?? Oh it must be your headpiece, I think you have another order.
