Most locations are forbidden to take tips, and at understaffed locations where some do the job of what 2-3 others do at another store for the same pay, it's deserved, but not a single person I know expects a tip, if they do, they don't deserve it and probably make more than I do. F.u.ck them!

washington mills store the tip jar was placed in the middle of the drive thru window and the clerk had to manuver around the jar to get my order ! i called the store supervisor and she was going to have it removed. funny thing is i am a waitress and even tho i do work for tips i dont wave my apron as a flag saying tip pocket ... i found it very insulting to work around the jar like the most important thing is the tips...some days the tips are good some not i try to give attentive service and i have to say the general public are generous and when not i just chalk it up and try to do better the next time...who knows what their money story is..at least they ate at where i work which helps pay my wage!

That is a very good attitude to have. I have never waitressed, but I have worked in retail so I know how it is working with the public. I always leave at least 15%; my opinion is that if the service is bad enough to not leave any tip at all, it's time to ask for the manager anyway As for the tip jars, I think they are obnoxious. I don't believe someone should get a tip for putting a donut in a bag and handing it to me over a counter. Waitressing tables is much more involved and much more work, so yes, they deserve a tip. But not counter staff at DD.

This is a little late to be adding this but if the dunkin donuts have to deal with the majority of you assholes I bet the person behind tipped extra after watching them put up with your bullshit and keeping a smile on their face. Grow up if you're not going to throw them some spare change at least don't belittle the people that do. Are you using the coins to weigh you down, afraid that if you take a couple coins out of your pockets your airheads are going to make you float away?

Do they claim their tips? Because if the right thing for me to do is tip them, then the right thing for them to do is claim those said tips on their tax's

I had to stop reading about half way down. Only commenting cuz I gotta say this is all ridiculous.
I must also say that until uve walked the walk don't talk the talk
to that whiny little chic that started this whole thing and went on n on - I wasn't much of a tipper myself either. And I agree that McyDz n Burger King. N Other shit should put up a tip jar. Dunkin Donuts Employees Most Definitely Deserve those tips. I didn't realize how much there was to it until i started working there myself. Gratuity is not expected nor demanded but it is respected
Here's my idea- go apply at DD and work a week n lets see what your whole opinion is after that.

Minimum wage workers like you always think they deserve tips just to do their jobs, try working for 1 week in our world! Or better yet, get off welfare and get a job!

This drives me nuts. Why are they being tipped for doing their jobs? No other fast food places do this!
I work for Dunkin Donuts and I love my job regardless of tips or not, I have people who come in daily and order multiple coffees and multiple sanwhiches that never leave so much as a penny, and I have no ill will towards them, If I see them comin in the drive-thru I jump to start their orders before they place them, greet them with a smile and wish them a nice night every time. Why? Because I love my job and their reliable buisness is the reason I enjoy my job. At my particular dunkin donuts we do not have tip jars on top of the counters because we do not want people to feel obligated to tip us. Tips in general are for *exceptional* service not your run of the mill "Hi what can I get for you, here's your order, have a good night" service. Tips are a way to show all in the food service business that you appreciate the job that they do or other wise enjoyed your time there. But I will say this, 8.00 p/h does not pay your bills I work 35 hours- 6 days a week, my only day off is monday and walk out with a whopping 251.36 cents a week. I have a daughter but luckily I am with her father. I can't imagine what its like for a single mother who can't obtain a better job. She might rely on her tips to buy diapers mid week before her check comes in. But of course no one is obligated to pay for a woman in that situations diapers. Someone mentioned that often times dunkin donuts hires young kids with poor attitudes or don't care to listen and fill orders correctly, unfortunately this is true but it's illegal to only have 1 person work a shift so it is common to hire "bodies" or people who make it able to stay open for their usual business hours, these people are what make the buisness a "Revolving door" as in they walk in, and eventually walk out. They are not the most pleasurable to work with as those of us who are reliable and care have to pick up their slack and we do our best to apologize in the way we operate for their poor attitudes and work ethic. Bottom line: No one is obligated to tip and you have a range of dunkin donuts and other coffee chains to choose from if you feel you are recieving poor service. There are also 5 minute surveys on the back for you to voice your input that out managers recieve copies of and post in every back room of the store, they read them and so do our franchize owners, as well as corporate. If you are recieving poor service please fill it out, read the servers name tag(Often times the name is on the reciept but it is not always the correct person so be careful you could be wrongly making a negative report) corrective actions do get taken against these people. If you do have a good server, then let us know that too, thats even better than tipping, it gets the managers to notice the good ones and acknowledge them for it, this could lead to their promotion and then they will have more of a say in the people that are hired which will ensure a better visit for you.
