Jim D'Onofrio helps address stormwater issues in Oneida County

A proposal made Monday by Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente could provide municipalities with a chunk of $500,000 to help put a dent in the bill’s associated with flood mitigation projects.

County Legislator Jim D’Onofrio, R-New Hartford, had approached Picente requesting that $250,000 be allotted to the Sauquiot Creek Basin Intermunicipal Commission for future work, and through further conversation more areas were recognized as needing mitigation and therefore financial assistance.

“The storms are just definitely getting more frequent and definitely more intense,” D’Onofrio said. The program is “definitely going to help the work that the town of New Hartford has already started.”
