I'm not surprised that you like that name!

It used to be Alexander's.

Heard,

The Auburn is still a good joint to go to at least earlier in the evening. It's a great after work place but it gets younger and louder as the night goes on.

I used to be part of that younger crowd but time does change one's schedule. It was also a great pool shooting bar because if you could play a mid-size table well, then you drank on other people's tab.

If you're older it is the old fashioned corner bar that we all grew up with and wished there were more of.

Not a club, not a gimmick, kind of dirty but really comfortable. Some really nice folks hang out there...just an honest joint.

Yup,the bar is still going but it's changed hands a couple of times...After Bert's it was purchased by Mike Nimey and renamed "Champs Sports Cafe", after a decent run, Mike sold it to someone else who is calling it "The Venue"...

I've had plenty of drinks at the Quiet Man...I miss that joint, it's too bad that Larry let it go like he did...The place rocked around the holidays and on St. Patty's Day...It's just a memory now(as well as a parking lot for Allison Jr.'s limo and hearse)

Here's typical night in mid 80s: Before seeing bands, have warm-up beers at Griff's on columbia, The Varick and COlumbia. THen hit band scene at either Milos on Culver Ave in east Utica, Coleman's in ROme (intersection of 49/69), Shakers On lincoln avenue in Utica or Rustic in Herkimer.
Main bands were Luftwaffe (Dave the singer with chainsaw during "balls to the wall"!!) ALec Star and i think a band called ny flyers ("crack the wip" original)

in those days you had to get in an accident to get pulled over for dwi but then in those days you didn't have the Bosnians going 300 miles an hour running people over.

Rt 69 Steakhouse was originally (as far back as I remember) the Blue Note, then became Alexanders. Anybody remember the Ale House, the barbershop, club stanek, Ramada on burrstone road, the old barn (in Inlet) and a place on 49 that had bands - Later a gymnastic school Anybody remember the name??

the Brinkerhoff Tavern was the place back in the late 70's beginning of the 80's, I think it was 5 Matts or OV splits for a buck.(To the Brink for a Drink!) great tag line.

OMG no one mentioned the Roustabout. My dad played in a band there. I was too young to go of course.
