I have been a Redskin fan all my life. Not one time have I ever thought of The term Redskin to be derogatory. The term Redskin to me means strong warrior. Someone that I want on my side during a fight. Just like the Oneida's during the revolutionary war.
If years ago your skin was red because you were outside hunting and fishing for your family is that such a bad thing?
If I'm a rancher out west should I be angry at Dallas for using the term cowboy?
Is the term Kansas City Chief ok?
If I'm Slavic should I be angry at the Vikings?
If I worked in a steel mill should I be angry at the Pittsburgh Steelers?
Be proud of your heritage.
Being called a "Redskin" is not part of any Tribal "Heritage". It is, and always was a derogatory term.
Calling a Cowboy a Cowboy is in no way demeaning. That was an actual profession.
Perhaps you are too much of a simpleton to understand the difference.

And countryboys, farmboys and hillbillies, etc, take pride in being called and identifying as "Rednecks", despite the braindumbing mass media's negative portrayals and stereotypes of such quintessentially American of real American folks. I see a day when we have a pro football team from nearly ANY state in the union going by the Rednecks. Hey y'all, ladies do love country boys!
When did being a Redneck become "fashionable" this is truly sad!!!!

again here's what many other native Americans say:
"Tommy Yazzie, superintendent of the Red Mesa school district on the Navajo Nation reservation... The high school football team in his district is THE RED MESA REDSKINS!"
“We just don’t think that (name) is an issue,” Yazzie said.“There are more important things..."

This was not an issue until Halbritter started running his divisive yap just to gain publicity for his gamblin' hall. Get clue!

In 2004, the National Annenberg Election Survey asked 768 people who identified themselves as Indian whether they found the name “Washington Redskins” offensive. Almost 90 percent said it did not bother them.

...but it bothers Ray Halbritter who's nothing more than a self appointed chief of his tribe. Many of them do not recognize his authority, much less agree with his grandstanding. He runs a big gamblin hall and successfully bought himself a sheriff. Now he's drunk on his self absorbed power trip. Screw that POS! This is only an issue because he decided it is? Somebody please shove a 9 iron up this boys keester!

I used to work for Turning Stone. I quit when I found out how poorly non-american indian workers were treated. If you are from a recognized tribe you get preference for jobs, promotions etc.
His time would be better spent treating his employees better and equal.
By the way I am part Mohawk Indian.

when you got money you have time to worry about things like redskins.Nothing wrong with their skin but maybe their attitude about paying their fair share of taxes like the rest of us. Imagine they get the benefits of what the white man made of this country but they don't want to pay for it because of some treaty. If the country was left up to them they would be speaking german. Imagine them going up against the Nazi tanks with the bow and arrows they would still would have been using.

Why are the Oneida's so upset with the Washington Redskins and not the Oriskany Redskins? Is it because Washington is on the "National Stage"? How come Bob Costas hasn't had a big rant on this? Help me understand this.......

According to NYS Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney, Ray Halbritter is nothing more than an Obama crony who is a backed by high powered maggots in Washington, DC.

Claudia Tenney is correct, Ray Halbritter stole over $2 million dollars from that tribe to give to Obama's campaign and that was mortally wrong for he should not be involved in American politics!

What the hell is wrong with those Indians that they don't themselves make a lockdown on that casino by blocking all entrances so no one could go and gamble!

If halbritter is not an Oneida Indian then those Indians who don't fight for what is theirs deserve nothing but death for they allowed a carpetbagger to steal their items!

According to sources, the Seminole Indians in Florida give over $84,000 to each of their members, but Halbritter only gives a measly $16,000 to his people. Where is all the money going? to the w o p s?

Will Halbritter place a bounty on Claudia Tenney for her statement in the Daily Caller? He did with her man David Townsend and placed a child in charge of the Oneida County Sheriff Department, yes, a child!
Oneida Nation Representative Ray Halbritter, who is also the CEO of Oneida Nation Enterprises, is not recognized in his position by the Grand Council of Chiefs governing the Six Nations Iroquois Confederacy. Halbritter is not a legitimate member of the Oneida tribe, Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney told The Daily Caller.

“He is not even technically an Oneida. There is not a drop of Oneida in him,” Tenney said.

Turning stone security told a gal wearing a redskins jersey to change the shirt or leave.
She must not have been spending...ie....losing enough money...probably winning..a lot.....hence...why she was asked to leave....Halbritter doesn't give a rats ass about the Redskins name...just seeking publicity for his lame ass casino in the middle of nowhere......remember his 'PGA Tournaments'? That publicity well dried up...now he is seeking a new one.
