There was a big fight at the wake between David & his brother over his brother's wife. Mike punched David in the face & knocked him over a table. Nicotera called the cops & they escorted Michael & his wife from the wake.David started the whole thing with his mouth!!! |

Well look at the numbers...dropping like flies there. Too bad was a vibrant parish. People coming over from St. Peters don't even stay...really sad.

What do you think happened? Both parishes seemed to be doing well with Fr Lucien at St Marks and Fr Tom at St Peters. They both get transferred out and replaced with pastors that don't have the same appeal. Now attendance at both has dropped. Do you think the Bishop did this on purpose as a precursor to closing one or the other and combining parishes? It just seems like he would have known the habits and personalities of these priests before he moved them in and that those things would be devisive. Doesn't it seem like a conscious effort to drive people away and then use that as an excuse to combine the two?
Just a footnote. If you are thinking about adding a comment about pedophile priests or some other slam on Catholics, please don't. While some may be deserved, most of the comments I see in this regard are just hateful, uninformed and ignorant. This is a discussion about St Marks church and not the Catholic church as a whole. If you want to start discussion of those things then feel free on a new thread. Please leave this on to the topic at hand. I would really appreciate that and I think others who are sincerely interested would too. |

Totally agree w/you about the Bishop's actions on removing Lucian & Tom. Seems they want to close one or both & combine. St Peter's was ahead at one point b/c they had the school as an anchor. Once the school closed, it left very desireable property/location. We feel, that at some point, there will only be about 3 or 4 Catholic churches in the area--if that. Everyone will be combined then. You will have full pews, 2-3 priests per parish, more masses. Catholic churches are going the way the Bosnian churches are. They have one church & it's always packed. No money worries there. It's coming our way........ |

North Utica certainly needs a new Wal-Green instead of a Catholic Church.
