Nash's on Bleecker was the best!Frankie Nash and Rocco Benedetto were two of the greatest cooks in the history of the area. That says a lot since the area historically was renown for its fine cooking.

Does anyone else remember Barady’s Bakery in the 70’s-80’s? It was on St. Vincent Street, and had counter service inside. They closed around 15 years ago. Their pita bread was so fresh, the best, and had good spinach pies, too.

It is hard to read this thread and not have your mouth water...

Meghan, Was the Seafare and the Bowling ally one in the same, or was the Seafare on Clinton St between Main St and the Blvd, far too many years have gone by my memory is fuzzy. Sqeezer, I remember an old guy selling clams from a cart just off Baggs Sq near Donaltys. Anyone on remember the Regal on Bleeker and Jefferson?? Good pizza and Italian food there.
The Sea Fare was the bowling alley. It was formerly B&D, and Bliss Alleys before that. The bar on Clinton Street was the Park View maybe?? Do you remember Nofri's? Great Italian food in Whitesboro. Wonderful family too. What about Al Greene's Blue Note, which was later Alexander's? Augie Aubert's Diner was always a good place for a quick bite and some laughs. McCarthy's, Bailey's, The Town Line Tavern, Four C's, Tripp's in Yorkville, Voss'... and for something sweet, Corn Hill Dairy, Holland Farms, Hemstrought's, Frozen Cow...., now I'm sad and hungry.

Anchor Inn, Tripp's Bar and Grill - Great pizza and Italian food!, Voss', Golden Point, Jean's Beans, West End Seafood, Ponderosa, Joe's Italian Restaurant, Capri Pizza, Jiffy King, Scholl's Dellers, Humphries, Bonanza, Uncle Henry's Pancake House, Dandee Donuts, Karat's Lebanese food, Woolworth's BLT's and milk shakes, Grimaldi's. Really miss those places. Great food. But what's happened to Utica over the years? Very sad.

For something sweet, almost forgot about HOLLAND FARMS, Florentine Bakery, Carusos. Holland Farms, of course, is still open and just as good as it ever was! Visited there a few years ago for the first time in years, and we were not disappointed! We went to all the old bakeries. There was an Italian bakery on James street that was also excellent, but alas, is no longer there. And the grocery stores had the finest Italian hot sausage anywhere! Wasn't the large chain called, "Chicago Market?" No longer in business. However, ROMA DELI still delivers the best Hot sausage in the entire USA. Really miss those places - and one more excellent place to eat that is still in business is O'Scugnizzo's Pizza.
