That's true, knowing the judge holds a lot of weight, the bad news is, if the judge doesn't like a particular lawyer, he could make it difficult, lol |

that is why Les and Mark have so much trouble in court. Not many judges can stand them. They are great in PI cases though, at least the ones that are easy to prove like dog bites, slips and falls, and car accidents. |

Judged: 2 2 2 I totally agree, Festine is as dishonest and corrupt as they come. He tries to overcome his ineptitude by lying and unscrupulous behavior. Totally a loser and a weasel. Stay away from this guy he is a prime example of why lawyers get such a bad rap. |

Norman Deep must be great then. |

I'm not talking about playing golf or slopping up booze. I'm talking about what you get for your money. Not much. |

Judged: 1 1 1 Penalty box time served well over 2 years ago. Reinstatement committee playing games and not sure how to proceed after concocting unsubstantiated nonsense courtesy of his former pretend lawyer secretary who claimed to have the goods when making her plea deal several years ago. Big mess. Backfired on those in power who made deal with her before recent arrest. No one wants to take ownership! Total inside job! |

I guess the real barometer of a law firn's integrity and overall health is how much money the partners have to pay accountants and other lawyers each year to defend their misconduct and other extracurricular activities. The other question as to the disgraced list of locals is why do the associates in these firms stay with these firms? I guess the quick answer is money. Sad. I bet your parents would have chosen a higher road to comfort and security. |
The money is no longer what it once was here in Utica. It's dried up and yes, the cost of doing business, paying back law school loans, health care costs and trying to turn an above average profit are all nearly impossible. Add increased competition and a cut throat environment and forget it. The profession polices itself with peers who often sit in a self-serving position. Money and politics go hand in hand. Criticizing the profession from within and exposing it's dirty little secrets is a sure way to experience retaliation and career black mail by those in power who often operate in a covert like manner. In recent years like many other professions, it's gotten worse. Look at the family court. It's become a breeding ground for parasite lawyers seeking a quick buck. As the economy worsens, domestic problems tend to rise. Utica's finest are right there looking at ways to escalate controversy. They'll never admit it, but it's clearly obvious. Not all, but a handful are making a great living from this faucet. Try filing a complaint and you'll be lucky if the peers admonish the lawyer. Most have the goods on each other so a quick phone call gets it resolved. Yep, I could go on but guess you'll all have to see for yourself. Enjoy the circus, just pay better attention to the sideshow! |

Judged: 2 1 1 Great points. Always thought Koziol was kind of like the outsider who exposed many of their shortcomings. Well we all saw how that worked out and what happened when he took on the good old boys club and didn't play by their rules. For as smart of a guy as he is, I guess his downfall was not playing politics. It's a lesson to be learned. Challenge those in power and high places who preside over committees etc, and you'll be left in limbo. He's kinda of like Utica's version of Chris Dorner. Just hope it doesn't have to go that far for him and children's sake. Met him a few months ago and found him to be a likable guy who marches to his own drum beat. Not a bad thing, just doesn't go over well where corruption has continuously prevailed. |
