I heard that there are some behind-the-scenes rumblings to have Rob Maciol run for County Executive. He's the Golden Boy of thye Democrat Party and they are eager to move him up. Maybe someday Governor?? Anybody else have any feelings about this? I personally think he would be a great leader.

Great leader? He can't even effectively run the sheriff's office. Not to mention he has hair like that Hermes the dentists character on the old Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer holiday show. He isn't qualified to hold the job he has. He sure as hell isn't qualified to run the entire county.

This sounds like a wise choice. I have known Rob to be honest and competent. He would make a fine governor someday.

You say he's ineffective and then rather than backing that opinion up with facts you make fun of the way he looks. Why do you believe he's ineffective? What qualifications does he not have?

I can't comment on what it's like to work for him but I like the way he's handled the finances.

He also seems very personable and interested in doing for the community.

Sure... Yeah, but I want to know where he stands on "safe act", gun control in general and/or any other constitutional rights that both the gov'na and the prez find too trivial too respect and uphold. Is he in their camp or against them? If he's with them, it's clear he's looking to be another sellout career politician and that's all I'd need to know...

Maciol is hanging out too close to the county ex now .bad enough. He is making the county ex look good saving money not like the last sheriff who spent silly. If maciol keeps his distance from pacenti he would be better off.A rep elect sheriff would never be seen that much with a dem county ex by a different perspective.

are you kidding. He raised your taxes every year he has been in office and this year he didn't raise your taxes only because he deferred 5 million dollars in payments. Are you plain stupid .just check the facts you hole.

Do you like the way Maciol handed the Wyman incident by burying the report? Do you like the fact an innocent man, Christen Patterson, sits in prison because Maciol lacks the nerve to face the fact his department made the decisions that caused the death of Kurt Wyman?

Word is that Picenti wants to run for State Senator and is grooming Maciol to replace him. Sounds like a done deal.

We are talking about the sheriff right?

First, he's the sheriff. He can neither raise nor lower taxes on anyone. The legislature does that. In fact they just passed a budget last night. The sheriff, like any other department head, submits a budget for consideration. That's it. If you are talking about the deferral of $5 million in pension costs, the county executive suggested that in his proposed budget and the legislature approved. The sheriff does not vote on budgets.

Second, I think if you look at the record the OC Sheriff's has finished at least the last two years with a budget surplus. That means they spent less than the amount than they were allotted and that money was used in other areas. Using that money in other areas is a factor in keeping taxes lower. So that means that while the sheriff did not lower taxes himself(like you seem o think he has the power to do), the way he is running the OC Sheriff's Department does keep taxes lower.

I'm not very familiar with all of the facts in that case. Apparently you are. With that in mind I think you should contact Patterson's lawyer immediately so he can use your inside knowledge to immediately mount an appeal case.
