First off,whether you agree with the policies or decisions made by UNIG, insulting someone based on their medical situation makes you a total low life scum bag. If you can't debate this subject intelligently and need to attack someone personally then you're too stupid to work at UNIG anyway.

Now, that I got that out of my system, I'd like to share my thoughts on UNIG. While I don't always agree with their decisions, and believe me, I've been burned by some of those decisions, I'm still fortunate to work there.

Do I agree with terminating someone solely based on email, internet & IM usage? No...I happen to be part of the "younger" (not youngest) generation of employees. This is the way we communicate....rather than wasting company time going to someone's desk they take 3 seconds per email. I do think some people use these resources exessively. But I would rather see someone using email, internet and IMs and being productive (some of the people terminated were "E"-exceeding expectations performers who were very productive). We have far too many people who hate the company and their jobs but because they don't use email, internet or IM they still continue their employment with the company. That's a disservice to us all.

A lot of companies do not have cafeterias.....the food may not be 5 star but c'mon. It's decent.

Morale is definitely down in a lot of areas, but I believe there are still some areas that love their jobs. I happen to be working in one of those areas. If you don't like your job, leave.

Personal remarks about specific employees aside.... because thas wrong and not needed... Issue is the out of touch managment. They have no clue. Take a survey of employees. You'll see.(an outside group should do this. We know what happens when UNIG tried to do this themselves) I've had one employee tell me several tims she wasnt to jump off a bridge. Wonderful! Way to treat your employees UNIG. Really in touch! Sounds like you're doing a bang up job!

Happy workers are productive workers. And for those who say it is the same everywhere, two wrongs or two hundred wrongs don't make it right. And FYI, it is not the same everywhere. It all reflects the attitudes at the top.

Is it true that one whole department was let go recently? The whole department was 'out-sourced'. Some had quite a few years w/company. Did they get severance? What about pensions?

Aren't they moving United Way into the downtown building? Can't fill it - and is that all tax deductible? Now the employees can just walk over to United Way and get their "donations" lifted in a more personal way.
