Thanks for posting this.I had no idea how much stuff the OD has been hiding from us.

Earle Cunningham's resignation is a positive gain for the library. During Library Board meetings Mr Cunningham failed to demonstrate a clear knowledge of the library's financial status and his documentation techniques were abysmal and out of date. His and former trustee Connie Stephens' rants against Mr Wiatr as they run out the library door are childish, immature and unprofessional. Unfortunately, this playground circus atmosphere is systematic of the Linda Romano lead library board of trustees.
Now for Sara Tracy:This the second time that the OD has breathlessly printed out a trustee resignation who took the opportunity to grandstand and take pot shots against Mr. Wiatr and you failed to contact him and get his perspective. In fact, I call into questions the accuracy of you and the OD's wole approach to covering the library.
Here are more examples:
-You knew that Connie Stephen's resigned for over two weeks before you even mentioned it thereby preventing the general public from submitting their resume's for an appointment of as a replacement
- You failed to report that our supposedly cashed strapped library is giving outgoing library director Hans Plambeck an extremely generous separation package to include:payiny 85% of Mr. Plambeck's healthcare costs until he reaches age 65 [about three years from now] and to also pay him for six (6) weeks of vacation time to allow him to stay home until his June 30th retirement date. All of which is in clear violation of the library's own rules and by laws.
-Speaking of Hans Plembeck, you failed to report to the public an email from then Library director Hans Plembeck to Linda Romano bragging on how he used the library's own security cameras to spy on library patrons as they reviewed documents in the library.
-During the recent library board meeting that appointed Heather Mowat to the library board, you failed to report that Ms. Mowat's appointment was done without any public notification or committee review in clear violation of the library's by-laws
-You knew about the murky situation on the library's ownership and you still haven't reported on it. You have been given source documents that clearly demonstrate that the library should beowned by the town and yet you continue to withhold from the public
-At a recent NH Town Board meeting, the issue of releasing the Library's audit report was debated and put up for a vote. Also, the library's ownership status was discussed. You omitted both discussions from your report in the OD.
I could list more examples but I think the point has been made. You and the OD's coverage has been incomplete and has been a disservice to the public at large. You have totally relinquished the press's proper role as a watchdog for the role of cheerleader and enabler.

Let's all thank Town Supervisor Patrick Tyksinski for appointing Ed Wiatr (born and raised in New York Mills) to the New Hartford Library Board. Supervisor Tyksinski ruined a great asset of the community.

All this over a building full of books. Some people have way too much time on their hands.

Gas fireplaces & leather chairs does not a library make! They spent more on the building than on books! The A/C units by the front doors, deafening as you walk in, and the parking at the bottom of the hill.....I can go on & on. A more accessable location was at the corner of Gennesee & Huntington Place.

They should focus on substance - books and media, instead of building a shrine to the Director and board.

Use the money to enrich minds instead of turning it into a club. It is money being poorly managed and allocated for their own egos.

It is where it is. To argue over where it should have been built is ridiculous and fool hardy. Did u own the piece of land that you mentioned above? The place is built. Deal with it. Stop crying over spilt milk.

Why is the OD reporting on a Board Trustee resignation for a small non-profit in the first place? And, why should the OD be responsible for reporting on any or all things going on at the library? And, who made public the negotiations with the Library's Director? This information should remain private. If a Board Trustee made this public, then shame on them and they might want to be very careful for they could be breaking confidentiality rules, especially if these negotiations were approved by the full board in a closed door session. If the Director's retirement package was voted on and approved in an open session, then making it public is okay and should be reflected in the minutes. However, if this retirement package was not approved by the full Board, then that is a totally different scenario and would clearly demonstrate major issues on this Board. Also, shame on the Board Trustee who keeps releasing the information regarding the resignations of the Trustees, it appears that that person has an agenda of their own and just wants to smear Mr. Wiatr.

I have always been upset how the whole library construction went down in the first place. The construction of the new library was voted down by the townspeople but then was built anyways with no regard to what the people wanted....

It is a mystery how it got pushed through... and we will never hear the answer from the Linda Romano controlled NH reporter. OD will continue to feed us what Linda and her minions want us to know.

It is a travesty. How does she get away with it?

A library in princible is not a waste of money but a library that wastes money like Linda Romano's Library is a travesty. Thank goodness for NH Concerned Citizens.

Give it up Rich Evans, Linda Romano's campaign to use Connie Stephens and Earle Cunningham's resignations to smear your fellow trustee Mr Wiatr with has backfired. Instead of a public outcry against Mr Wiatr, you and your fellow conspirators Romano, Stephens, and Cunningham look petty, mean spirited and childish. All you have done is make yourselves and the library look foolish in front of the whole town.

You said it best. They are wasting money -- because it became the "Linda Romano Memorial Library" (in her mind). Someone said it is a travesty, and it is.

She needs to step down immediately, and turn it over to someone who is fiscally responsible. This can't happen soon enough.

Count me as another outraged NH taxpayer. I am so annoyed with this library debacle, and the tax dollars being wasted.

Where's the oversight, the checks and balances? From what I hear, they don't exist.

Wonder if they'll take Amex at the club's venues?

This whole incident is a perfect example where the OD fails this community. Instead if looking at situations objectively, the OD's Sara Tracy couldn't post Linda Romano's email fast enough on the OD's webpage. She couldn't even be bothered to ask Trustee Wiatr for a statement even though he was blasted in the email. She has totally embarrassed herself and the OD. She is acting like she is Linda Romania personal press Secretary instead of an objective journalist. The OD has no shame or pride.

You are right. The bigger issue is the failure of rge OD to report news objectively and fairly. Our paper is failing us and contributes to the incompetence of our elected leaders.thank you for pointing this out.
