Some of the behind the scenes with all of this is:Rob Esche was quoted that this attempt has been ongoing for 20 years. Why would anyone jump to the conclusion that they are any closer today than they have been in the past? These people have not even contacted AHL board of governors yet.
Calgary has 6 years remaining on their current contractual agreement, and a horrible reputation and history with their AHL operation.
This group is still searching for public financing for their 'dream' of returning AHL hockey to Utica. Where do you suppose that kind of money will turn up in the Mohawk Valley?
Seems like a lot of hoopla over nothing to this point. Let's see if some money surfaces for this project; until that happens, it is still just a rumor.
Can anyone refute any of my statements here?
"Francesco Aquilini has his sights set on buying the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre and the land it occupies. By extension, Aquilini would cut a deal with the Calgary Flames that would result in the Vancouver Canucks No. 1 farm team, the Chicago Wolves, moving to Abbotsford."
If this happens then the Abbotsford Hockey Team could be without a home. Nothing in the news identifies (other then the buzz created by Liable) seems to be concrete at this time regarding hockey coming to Utica.
