Big fire at "Uncle's Tavern." Fully involved, and they just called for the air van according to the scanner.

They also just called for volunteers with all their teeth and without a "fully involved" case of herpes!

Sick response "regressive."

The "air van" is a truck with an extra large crane that can attack fires at the top of a structure.

I believe it's housed in Whitesboro or Marcy, and is available for all major fires in Oneida County.

Oh cool. Thanks for that info. Glad to see there are still some nice people around instead of breaking my chops because I didn't know.

Normal FDs just call it what it is because they all have one and don't have to share: A tower truck or "Snorkel" but hey why be normal it's better to make is sound like it involves "magic" to cnyers, a.k.a. the upstate rarity called "aviation".

A Self Contained Breathing Apparatus fill station was installed in station 1 enabling the Maynard Fire Department to conveniently refill its own air packs. In June of 1993, Oneida County began to house their Air Van 279 in Maynard Station 1. Maynard Firefighters are dispatched anywhere in Oneida County to refill airpacks for other fire departments.

Sure sounds like a LARGE CRANE to me. You know, since all FDs use CRANES to fight fires!

If only it had happened during the hours of 11:30 am to 2:00 pm they would have had a complete shift from National Grid there to assist.

<quoted text>Par for the course. That area needs professionals from the sounds of it. Another bar burned? No big loss. Let the alcoholics in search of thrills stay home and take care of their families for a change.
Heather. Great observation. And there were some professionals on scene last night. Everything went great after that. Professionals are simply those who know there trade or craft. Hopefully you were not inferring paid fireman. It's because someone is paid doesn't make them a professional or even proficient at that they do. As far as the alcoholic comment not sure what you're inferring too. There are no thrills to be had. These folk left the comforts of there own homes to help others, in the case to put out the fire. Easy for you to talk shut on here from the comfort of your Goverment assisted apartment on the west side.

<quoted text>Ummm yeah, work on your literacy before you try to assume where I live. You obviously haven't asked around about who I am. About the closest I'll ever get to government funded housing is if my pop does another appearance for your governor at a Hamptons fundraiser. Nice try illiterate jerk! Now go find a dentist.
You are an idiot. How's the heroin around town these days little girl?

This is why I hate this forum. The establishment belongs to someone. They make their living there. So, what do these people do ? Use this to make fun of firemen, Polaks, bars, owners, etc. Truly classless people. Hope they recover quickly.
