Georgios, the willows, cafe del buono, the hadley (some service issues), ancora, aqua vino, all good right of the top of my head.

Ancora's is a bit over rated, the only really good dish there is the Paella. Delmonico's and Georgios are both pretty good.

My favorite is The Phoenician. It's not the fanciest restaurant, and I'm sure alot of people will disagree, but I think it's great. Better than Symeons. Also, I love middle eastern food. That's my opinion.

Only went to The Willows once, it was good but the others I listed are much better. Especially La Petite Maison.

I know that peoples perception of what makes a great restaurant great are diffrent so I am going to throw out one that I know will get people's irk. Joe's on pallateri and Jay st! If you want GREAT simple Italian for a price that is out of this world go on Tue or Sat! Open at 10:30 for lunch on Tue and I went at 11 and there was a 1/2 wait! funny thing is that I saw the owner of cafe DelBuono there eating lunch! The Braisole (spelling, I know) is OUT OF THIS WORLD! I mean really....

P. Joe's is great...it depends on the occasion a lot too to depend on where to go.

I agree. Myself, I don't see the need to go out to eat, only for special occasions. I prefer making food at home. Joe's is NOT a special occasion place. What it is though, is a place that makes that special dish that you just can't perfect at home. It is all about consistancy. Syemons is the same way. The reason why people go to both places is that after all these years you know EXACTLY what you are going to get. I'm 37 yr old and have been going to Joe's since I was like 10. I can tell you this, the peppers still look/taste the same, the antipasto salad is so simple that anyone could make it but it just has that "something" about it that you can't duplicate at your house. Syemons is the same way. You can get calamari anywhere in the city but theirs is out of this world. Bread is consistant and prices are great too!

Yes, last year. They are closed now but are reopening next year. I think they closed for renovations.

I am generally disapointed with the area restaurants.
I am a very good cook and generally can make something better at home I have not found a great Italian restaurant in Utica yet.

I found Raspberry’s in South Utica has excellent food. Michael T’s in New Hartford is another one of my favorites. I also prefer my own cooking, but I really enjoy being able to sit, relax and spend time with my wife while someone else does the work.
