I love Wegmans. I heard thru the grapevine that there is a gentlemen's agreement between the Golubs (Price Chopper) and Wegmans that PC will not move further west if Wegmans does not move further east. If that true, no Wegman's for us. Will have to drive to get to one.

Wegman's prices make Hannaford look like a Thrift Store.

this area cannot support high end specialty products if it could most grocery stores would cater to those customers and sell the high margin products but most local stores will bring in anything upon request.

That's all you people care about!! A stupid fking supermarket!!! What about bringing jobs, money and culture to the area? What if, instead of little touch-ups, we gave the Mohawk Valley an entire face-lift? What if we demolished all the Depression era eyesores and built some modern structures for a change? What if we had an economy that could sustain and retain all the college graduates we turn out each year? What if we had better roads and infrastructure, some street lights that actually made sense and some landscaping to be proud of? What if, instead of being a dumping ground for unwanted people, we attracted businesses and talented professionals who would bring some vitality to Utica and its suburbs?

What if...? What if...? What if...? So many things wrong with this area and all you people care about is Wegman's.

You Uticans need to stop thinking with your stomachs and think with your brains for a change.

What the hell is the bug up your azz? You really must be Price chopper. Bring other stores here WOULD crete new job-moron and bring $$ to the area. Isn't more competition better for the buyer or are you just afraid that those other wonderful markets here would have to compete and clean up their acts?

Obviously, we aren't the only ones who need to think with their brains!! You apparently have none to spare.

Get off your soap box and have a sandwich-you're
starved for something-maybe just attention!!

Wegman's or Whole Foods would be a great addition to this area. Or is it, Just like you'd like it now?
yeah right

Oh yeah, like a bunch of minimum wage Wegmans jobs are really going to bring money and vitality to the area. These are just the kinds of careers Oneida County needs to hoist people out of the working class and into the middle class.

Aren't there already enough big box stores that sell nothing but food around here? More competition just means somebody will have to close, and that means more vacant buildings. Besides several Price Choppers, Hannafords and Wal-Marts, there is Target and Peter's (not to mention all the 24-hour convenience stores like Byrne Dairy, Nice N' Easy and Fastrak.

Nom-nom-nom-nom!!! No wonder there are so many fatties in the Mohawk Valley. 90 percent of the places to shop sell mostly edible merchandise. Heck, I won't lie--I'm fat too! I'm a victim of my environment just like everybody else.

Most of this supermarket expansion is government subsidized anyway: just a bunch of people pumping their food stamp dollars back into these businesses. Nice big socialist wet dream the Mohawk Valley is.
Yep

Let's just keep Utica JUST THE WAY IT IS!! Sorry you're a loser. The stores that you mention as Utica's "great" choices can't even compare to either Wegman's or Whole Foods.

Have you ever been to one of therm? Or have you ever out of Utica?

Utica should be glad to get ANY jobs. Anything is better than what's here now. Getting these jobs doesn't preclude getting better ones too now does it?
