Before Utica College, and all those buildings were there, the area was the farm for the Utica Psychiatric Center. This was the first psyc hospital in the US and at one time was on the leading edge of treament most of which was rather barbaric. The farmhouse was located where the church was now aand the patients that worked the farm used to sit on the big front porch in rocking chairs which were thought to calm mental illness. Where the college is located and Friendlys, the Burrstone etc was all farmland. You need to remember that many people spent their entire life at the hospital. Even those that weren't Mentally ill. There is a lot more information but that seems off topic. Anyway, the psyc buildings and the accompanying tunnels are reputed to be haunted. And if there were graves in the area of the Burrstone Building, they could very well be from the psyc hospital. Looking up the old records from the psyc hospital might give you some information about the area.

Three years in a row we lost a pledge, 2 in car crashes, but the third one committed suicide in South Hall in the early 70's. I think his name was Bob Wilhelm. If my memory serves me, he was found in the crawl space above the dorm ceiling.
