I love to smell lindberger cheese because it reminds me of the misery and bitterness that I love so much.

YES! I just bought some. When we were little kids, my Dad used to bring home a jar and crackers and we all considered it a huge treat. I wish I could find the kind in the jar again. Sweet memories.

As a little girl my grandfather used to eat a lindberger cheese sandwich every Sat. when I visited. I remember it had a terrible smell! I haven't met anyone else since Grampy who eats lindberger cheese. That is an interesting question. Does anyone today eat that stinky cheese??

Are we talking about Limburger cheese?
Limburger cheese is a cheese that originated in the historical Duchy of Limburg, which is now divided between modern-day Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.

my father used to tell me a story about someone on some sort of public transporation with lindberger cheese in maybe a tuba and stinking everyone out -i would like to know if this was or is a story - did he make it up? i would like to pass it on to my grandchildren if at all possible, but cannot remember any other details.

I know someone who rubbed the cheese on a guy's car manifold. The smell permeated the inside and no amount of detailing ever got rid of the odor.
