I am not homophobic at all and I have many gay friends (both male and female). I do not support gay marriage though. I believe that marriage is a bond between a man and a woman. What are your thoughts?

Our society is screwed up. 50 percent of marriages end in divorce. People get married at drive-thrus in Vegas. People have open marriages. Married people do drugs with their kids. Gay marriage is just the logical next step in our cultural downward spiral. The sanctity of marriage argument is flimsy at best. Heterosexual marriages are not going to be threatened by gay unions any more than they are already being threatened by the aforementioned things. If gays want to get married then I see no reason why we shouldn't let them.

I think you're full of crap. And that someone who actually had gay friends wouldn't have a screen name "no homo". Get lost troll. No one cares about your garbage opinion.

Part of marriage is benefits, weather it's health ins, death benefits, social security etc... If we extend this option, everyone will loose!!! Married couples are entitled to certain benefits, tax deductions, spousal benefits!!! If we open this to up soon there will be no benefits for anyone!!! It will become more expensive and too costly!!! Marriage is defined as a union between a man and a woman who in most cases can reproduce and keep the world going... Two guys and/ or two women can not reproduce!!!! Also if we accept homosexuality, why should we not accept sex with animals, or what about multiple spouses??? Where do we draw the line and who should decide??? Every one should be happy!!! Come on people wake up, where will the line be drawn???

I cannot believe that people like you still exist. You're a dinosaur and your time is up. Take a Leo into this millennium and some reality. We should repress people because equality will be expensive? Are you serious? Guess what else was expensive- allowing human rights to apply to all humans- women, children, people of color. ALL PEOPLE. But equality outweighs dollars in importance. Sometimes the right thing is the harder thing to do. That doesn't make it less right. Get with the program or do the thinking
Population a favor, move to Iran. They have a theocracy and they hate anyone who doesn't think and act according to the mythical rules written out in their magic book. You'll fit right in.

Yup, The queers have rights just like anybody else. They can do WHATEVER they want. Just don't expect everyone else to accept it as Marriage. Once we change the definition of the word then anything should go.

Ok, lets start with benefits. Many health ins companies already have plus one provisions. I doubt people are marrying for a measly $225 death benefit. And I personally would rather see my tax money go to someone after their hard working, tax paying spouse has passed away instead of paying for half of nys to sit home on welfare! That (welfare) is something too expensive and costly we can cut down on. The population is booming, we don't need to reproduce more. And why not let a stable gay family adopt the unwanted children many kids today are having? I draw the line at your sex with animals comment. I can already hear you screaming.

Since gay marriage became legal in New York state a married male gay couple moved in next door to us. They have a rainbow flag over their front door and they kiss each other in the driveway every morning in front of our kids who are waiting for the school bus. Our kids are starting to ask questions like "why do those two men live together?" My younger son calls them Burt and Ernie and I already think his perception of the family dynamic is forever changed. My husband and I don't like it, but what can we do? We just have to grin and bear it and try to raise our kids according to our beliefs and values. Am I offended by the gay couple next door? Absolutely. Do I think gay marriage should be legal? Absolutely not. But the times are changing and sometimes you just have to accept the changes and keep living your life.

Look around. The family dynamic has changed and evolved quite a bit. Stop pretending it is the 1950's. We can only hope your kids don't grow up with your bigoted views of the world.

the "single" plan as offered by the city of Utica costs $6-7k and the family plan costs $16k. That will be the new cost to the city if one of its male employees decides to marry some boi off the street. If his boi has healthcare, More than likely his boi will opt for the city plan bc it is more generous.

If you are going to start talking about the problems this city has with overpaying it's employees in salary and benefits then that is a whole other can of worms. If a company happens to have a huge amount of people deciding to get married just to save ten grand a year than employees might all have to pay a bit more. Don't think it will bankrupt you.

I'm sure someone cares about my opinion, as I'm sure someone cares about yours as well. I just thin marriage is between a man and a woman. That's all. B

I am sure you think I am a dinasour however, yes the marriage equality act is based on people's happiness and rights, but regulated by whom? If marriage is opened to one group it will have to be opened to every group... Right now marriage is regulated to one man and one woman ( the definition in Websters dictionary). We have laws as to what we can do and what we can not do in a marriage, who can marry and at what age... If we allow one group (any group) we better allow all groups... After all poligimists deserve to be happy, parents who want to marry children deserve to be happy... Brothers, sisters and cousins who fall in love deserve to be happy... And yes pal, even animals... People leave estates to animals why not marry one... I'm sure someone in today's society will try to do it!!! I agree with you on welfare but that is a separate issue!!! So my question is when we change marriage and I believe we will, who regulates it, who decides what's right and what's wrong!!! Take god and laws out of everything and watch us self destruct!!!
