yes true! less than half the price of a college book.
$17 vs.$70 for a ebook,
and you really don't need the special readers for them either.
this is probably the biggest nail in bookstore coffins.
B&N didn't see the writing on the wall and failed to be a leader in ebooks.
building all them stores with all that overhead when the future spelled e-books, they could have been a leader in this much like blockbuster failed to do as well.
poor insight and management included the board members.
personally i would rather read paper, so much easier on the eyes.

don't let the facts get in the way of your fiction. Barnes & Noble just turned a profit of $63 million for Q4 2013.

the principal reason they've been struggling is their misguided venture into the e-reader market with the "Nook," which has been draining cash and not generating expected revenue. the company should probably divest itself of the Nook business but it will carry on with it for now.

in-store sales of non-Nook products were basically flat the last quarter, dipping .05%-- not good, but not bad.

yes the company has challenges... so do your part. get over to the Barnes & Noble store and BUY A BOOK!

why would i want to go to B&N and purchase a book when i can get it off the web at less than half the cost, ebook or paper?
down sizing and closing half the stores is not growth and certainly turning a small profit for one quarter doesnt come close to looking good for investers (BKS),
the cost cutting wont end.
income, sales growth, net profit margin, debt/equity ratio, eps, p/e all negative and poor figures for quite sometime now.
its a no brainer to save up to 80% on the cost of books than go to barnes and noble.
like utica and the surrounding area, "its another dying breed".
(best they can do is have a warehouse fire-sales online)
