This is my first posting on topix but examining it I realize that each post can be judged. I just want to make sure I am clear on the judging of my last post because it received 4 disagrees and other nuts and clueless ratings. So to be clear the folks who submitted those ratings do not agree that it is the citizens city and not the mayors to do what he wishes. That was the only point that was truly made in the last post so I am just trying to make sure I am clear on what the judging means. You guys believe that they mayor and his inner circle should be allowed to do whatever he likes no matter how poorly it affects the people living within the city? Forget any utilitarian actions he should simply just do whatever is in his best benefit for his pockets and power position and that is ok with you? Am I correct in this assumption by analyzing the judgments you have provided?

Concerned Citizen- I would like to speak with you.. I have proof of corruption as well.. It seems to be a practice of this mayor to try and steal buildings- using codes & fire dept & police to scare building owners and try to drive them out of business with needless lawsuits and bogus claims that things need to be fixed - for his friends and then give his friends buildings for say 1,000 coupled with big development grants. Oh free press is a joke in Utica and OD is a mouth piece for city hall and whoever is power. Utica deserves better!

massive amounts of money into the city for the pure benefit of the city is B.S. Contractors and individuals who hold high offices in the city will be benefiting for years to come from all of these decisions and it just so happens all of these people can be traced back to the Palmeri camp.
A perfect example of this abuse of power is the "old" Community Food Bank that was located on Bleecker St. for over a decade. The building that the food bank resided in was a gifted building to the United Way of Utica (I believe it was the U.W. either way it was a community support program organization) by Louis Brindisi. The food bank operated for years with out any problems filling a huge need for the city, helping the community stay fed. It has lasted numerous mayors and has never so much has had a hiccup. Unfortunately the moment our new mayor step foot in office it seems as if it was his first duty to eliminate this community outreach program. Why on earth would anyone want to take away anything benefiting the citizens of the city so much? In his first months in office the location of the food bank was shut down for many bogus reasons leaving the city without a permeant location for people in need to rely on. The volunteers of the food bank have jumped through hoops to do what has been asked of them to get the food bank back up and running and every time one task is completed another, more bogus reason, is found to keep the doors shut. Codes has cleared the building and if you have visited the location lately you can now find a sign from the Fire Chief, Chief Brooks condemning the location. Mr. Brooks also sits on the board of the

I would like to get in touch.. What you are describing is happening to us but even worse. I know of three buildings this has happened to including our own. I have contacted outside law enforcement.

He is trying to bully me too. I am proof of this corruption but I am tougher than him. He is using the mayors office for his own personal gains. He is the most corrupt mayor this city has ever seen. All his BS is nothing more than smoke screens to cover up his corruption. The media is protecting this corrupt person and he has a judge too that works with him in doing corruption. I wont mention HER name.

I would like to speak with you.. Whats the best way to contact. Mayor is after our building and its been the most scary experience of my life. I have been following this closely and have been advised the more evidence I have and the more business owners that have experienced this the better chance i have of getting national attention on this including law enforcement. Do you live in CT or Utica? I also live outstate.

Hi If you have any proof or would like to talk off line. I would be grateful.. I have been trying to fight off the corruption and keep our building with zero help. More people I can find that have been harmed by corruption of this adminstration the more attention I can get to help stop it.. I know four building that he has tried and in case he got the building.

The problem is not the mayor but the corrupt leadership at the food bank. They were under investigation from the attorney generals office and no longer receive distribution from the central NY food bank in Syracuse because of this corruption. Why should the attorney that runs the food bank be taken food for his own personal use. He's an attorney and should be able to afford to shop and a normal grocery store and get the food to the ones that need it.
Poor management and the friends and family plan for the workers of the food bank to line their pockets and not get the food to the needy.
It's a shame and that's the information that should be sent to the media.

My advice is move away from Utica before it collapses. They can't even seem to fix the potholes, for goodness sakes!

No jobs are coming. Many of us make sure potential investors know what Utica does to incoming business. We let them know the City will steal their building and the local press will cover for them. Then we show them what Rome has to offer.

Anybody notice that Rome is growing while Utica is dying? Notice that no matter how cheap the buildings are, nobody wants them? Anybody notice where Utica ranks nationally? Utica is doomed to be a cheap, retail town as long as you keep electing corrupt and incompetent fools.

In short, everyone gets the government they deserve... Especially Utica.

This is the truth. They both exist as a PR arm of the mayor's office, and refuse to run an story critical of the city, no matter how damning.

The best post in this whole thread! Italians are just interested in taking care of their own. It's called the "family & friends plan" and has been going on for decades. The only reason Ed Hanna got in was because he couldn't be bought by the political machine or the local pizza connection. Every mayor since has been a wop, guinea, goombah, dago. This needs to end and have Utica run like a business.

I looked it up. Last 9 out of ten mayors were Italian. Probably explains why Utica is a SHITEHOLE

They won't even answer basic questions at city hall or say they don't know the answer. What idiots do they have working there.
