Every time you turn around, somebody is saying I am a single mom. So what. Should I treat you any diff. You are the same as a married mom. Please stop saying I am a single mom. It does not make you special and I am not giving you a badge of honor.

Obviously you don't know what it means to be a single mom and yes it is different than being a married mom. Anyways, would you call a single dad a hero?

I really never hear a dad call himself a single dad. He should call himself a father. A mom should call herself a mother. Both without the word single.

Single mom? Still can't place that in my mind......where IS THE DAD? Single mom once okay.......quit having kids after the first one then. How about single wife? I like that term.......I think I will begin to call myself that........tired of taking care of all the single mothers and their offspring who then also become single mothers and no account dads!

Bingo. You'd think they'd realize most people look at that as "you let your fkn kid down due to your inability to get along with anyone but yourself for the sake of your kids" end of story. No excuse. If someone fked you once you can hook it out there again so your kids will have a responsible father figure. All else is pig lipstick.

I was a single dad and a custodial parent when my daughter was 8 years old. Her mom choose to be with a drunk. They moved to Florida after I gained custody here and her mom never attempted to see her until our daughter was 11 years old. She finally left the drunk when she was 14 after he became a crack addict in Florida. When the mom came back here our daughter still choose to live with me. Our daughter and her mom don't get along very well and daughter hold resentment over her moms choice! So does that make me a hero dad? No just a good dad who looked out for the better interest of his child. She is now 22 years old and making something of her life.

I started saying that I was a single dad raising my child and my ex flipped when she found out. I said, "well I am given the limited time the court so graciously gave me." It's a great pick up line for women, much like they use it to sucker men in.

I am a single mom and I am a hero. I don't go around advertising the fact that I'm a single mom. Single PARENTS are all heros...not that non-single ones are not. In most cases, a single parent with custodial rights do the same, if not more, then joint parents. I do 10 x as much as my ex for my children and it's not a brag, it's a fact. And therefore, I am a hero to myself and my family!!

No doubt you do 10X more than your ex because you have your children the majority of the time and he is working extra hard to pay you child support. So, you have no right to say that you're working 10X harder.

You can make whatever mistakes you want to; it's your life. But there's no reason I should have to pay for the bad decisions of other people.

We should give everybody notice: welfare and WIC, etc., are all ending permanently in five years. As of Monday, January 1, 2018, no more assistance to the poor.

End Welfare. 1-1-2018.

Years ago, being called a single mother might have got a woman some pity... but now single moms outnumber married moms. and looking around the city at the selection of single moms we have, I wouldnt want to be labeled in the same category as them.

To me, being a single mom means you shacked up with some guy who doesnt love you. because you wanted to move away from home, or to piss off daddy. And then when you finally got knocked up because you were secretly flushing your birth control pills and poking holes in his condoms, he ditched you or got locked up.

A single mom with some kids:
Add up her rent, heat, healthcare, foodstamps, water, electricity... ect.
Lets say that adds up to $2000 a month and thats being generous. Now multiply that by a year. Then multiply that by the whole block... or half the neighboorhood... or half the city...

Who's paying for all this? Me. I know this because a third of my check is missing every payday.

Hooray for single Moms!

I dont have any kids. I work, but I cant afford any. So make sure I dont procreate.

Completely dismantle the welfare system. Then see how carefree women are about getting knocked up when they know Uncle Sam isnt gonna put food on the table.

I am a "single mom" and know plenty others and I do NOT receive food stamps nor any other kind of assistance as a matter of fact. It don't matter to us if we are your hero. Only person I am the hero of is my children. They see me get up every day and work 50 plus hours a week to pay the bills, provide food and a roof over there head, and giving them all the things every child wants. I bust my ass with no help from the sperm donor. I get a whooping 55 dollars a week in child support for 4 children. Sperm donor too busy making babies all over the county to worry about any child. All about himself. I don't need nor want praise from any one. But yes I am a single mother and a damn good one at that. Why don't we start a post here about the sperm donors who think that paying their obligated child support is enough. It's a crock. A judge can make a "father" financially support their children but can't make them take their kids and spend time with them.

To fed up and all the similar post here, could not agree more.Years ago, there was a certain stigma associated with being divorced, a single mom,or being on welfare. Now people seem to wear these labels with a badge of honor. Maybe this is why the decay in society is in a death spiral. Just saying

Like a previous poster, I have NEVER received a public hand-out. Unlike many MARRIED parents, I have never received the earned income tax credit. I didn't qualify for Obama's tax incentives. Why? Because I AM a responsible mother. Knowing that many marriages end in divorce, I busted my butt and built my business before my husband and I PLANNED for our son. Frequent military deployments in service to OUR country resulted in divorce and my husband bolted. I don't owe society ANYTHING. I'M A SINGLE MOM AND A HERO.

I am a proud single dad paying my court ordered child support. There is a big difference between me and the mother who is given the children and receives a tax free check. I don't display this label like most women looking for sympathy.

When someone uses this card, I'm quick to reply, "but at least you get child support as well." Shuts em right down!
