Does anyone know of a dentist
who does root canals and takes medicaid
in emergency where you dont have to be #5000 in
line? Looking for a medicaid dentist in oneida county or surrounding area???its like a needle
in a haystack....a dentist who will take you and you dont have to be an existing patient?

just wait and have all you teeth out because you will be waiting forever for any dental work around here.there is a waiting list in syrcuse and any where else, really you have no choice but to have them pulled or pay out of pocket is what they tell you,my son has 4 impacted teeth and i was told i have to pay out of pocket to get it taken care of.This is a sad country we live in where we are told you have insurance but we don,t take it .So my son is in pain and i don,t have the funds to take care of this because its about the god almighty dollar instead of helping someone with a payment plan for people that don,t have much. Thanks to all those greedy oral surgeons that think your dollar is worth more then the pain my son is going through.

Should call Oneida County Department of SS and ask how to get information on a participating provider/dentist

If your on medicaid, then you have to have a managed care program..americhoice-united healthcare has dental coverage and some dentists WILL take that.. you'll have to check w/ managed care to see if you can switch though..good luck.

Americhoice doesn't cover dental in Oneida county:
If you live in Onondaga, Herkimer, Oneida or Oswego Counties and need to visit a dentist, make an appointment with any dentist that takes Medicaid. You will need to use your Medicaid card to pay for the visit. You are always covered for emergencies.

This is exactly why I studied hard in high school, got into college, studied hard while working all kinds of tough jobs and then went on to graduate school and got up at 5AM to study while my friends were out drinking and wasting their time. Now I have 4 children and I make sure they have the best health and dental care available because I pay for it with my own hard earned money. If you want good care and a good life then education and working hard and living within your means is the only way to achieve it. You can't wait on the government or other taxpayers to pay for it. I would bet that all the people on here complaining have a nice big TV, they pay for cable or satellite, they have a cell phone and many of them spend their money on alcohol or cigarettes. Priorities people! My wife and I also did not have sex until we were married so we didn't end up pregnant in high school. Choices have consequences. Luckily here in America you can make it if you study hard and work hard. Get your kids to understand that so they won't be relying on others for their own lives! Education is the key! But your education is determined by what you do not what teacher you have or what school you go to!

@ Jason ~ Some people are disabled and recieve Medicaid, some disabilities make it hard to work. Plus when they do want to get back to work, there are not many incentives to get their feet off the ground.

Do NOT go to St. Luke's Dental! They pulled out a molar and it hurt like hell! I left with blood all over my face. They did not even tell me I had blood on my face and when I walked out the receptionist laughed at me, so I got in the car and looked in the mirror only to see why she was laughing. Also if you have oral surgery at Sitrin, you dont feel a thing, but St. Luke's, you'll feel everything, dont go there if you can help it! Sitrin doesnt offer as much as a private dentist who accepts Medicaid, but they're a hell of a lot better than St. Lukes!!

Understood about the dentists there in the residency, but others who work there are jerks. For example the lady in the reception area....I used to have horrible anxiety and told her I had to go get some air outside and she laughed in my face. Same thing she did when my face was covered in blood. Also, there were people SCREAMING in other dental rooms. Never heard screaming at Sitrin.

So when the jobs you studied and busted your ass for disappear because of some shady boardroom deals and you're left with a family and pieces of paper that cost you as much as a new home that are worthless now. What do you do? Tell the Doctors and the Hospitals that you busted your ass and deserve good treatment or rely on the US government to at least provide minimal health services. Don't act like everyone who needs assistance is uneducated and lazy. In the last 3 years a lot of well educated, degree holding, hard-working people have ended up needing the governments help.

A resident dentist at St. Lukes Dental is the best dentist I have ever been to. See him before he leaves!! No lie he is the best! They don't do root canals there or at Sitrin.

First, I agree with Nathan. Dental/health coverage isn't something you are INTITALED to. As far as the snotty receptionist at St. Lukes, SHE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE TO FIND YOU A DENTIST, SOULTION, ROOT CANAL OR ANYTHING ELSE. Her job is to schedule appointments. THAT's IT!!!!

I had to respond to this because no matter how smart you think you are you are obviously a little ignorant. I have my children on this insurance because at this time I am home wit my children and my husband owns his own business. We are well educated people and I have a masters degree and I am a certified teacher in 3 areas. This allows me to raise my children while providing them medical and dental. There are many people who use this insurance who are hard working people and are educated!
