I agree with you also. We should not have to pay extra in taxes for a ahl team to come here.
I thought that the state gives us 2 million towards paving. That is what I read on wktv. Am I mistaken.
There was a referendum a few years ago where the people of Utica decided to mandate $2 million paving be done each year. The city does recieve CHIPS funding (from the taxpayers of New York state)but it only partially offsets the cost. This year that amount is projected to be $1.5 to $1.6 million leaving a $400,000 to $500,000 gap between what they are getting and what is mandated. That money has to come from somewhere and is not in the budget that was just passed.
