Guess she should be held responsible when a kid gets knocked up at a H.S. Dance, or does drugs... It was a tragic TRAGIC accident... That would be like blaming people who eat meat for the accident. If no one ate meat the cattle truck wouldnt of been on the rad? Cmon. This is ridiculous. Blaming the Supt. is not the answer. Should the parents of let an inexperienced driver on hazardous roads. The HP Bus is afforded to all children. They could have taken the bus. It was an accident. Tragic... Thoughts and prayers to the family.
No one is to blame and NOONE will really ever know what happened on that snowy morning...by the looks of the car & truck...I would say speed was a definite factor..you can't really blame anyone..but maybe the drivers for not using more caution..let's face it..both drivers will live with this for the rest of their lives..how horrible. Parents WAKE UP...just cause your kids are 16 and can drive..this DOESNOT mean they should automatically DRIVE TO SCHOOL..see way too much distraction today on the roads..RIDE THE BUS!! It is by far the SAFEST MODE OF TRANSPORTATION to get to school...and it is A PROVEN FACT!~

I think we all need to step back and take the lead from Nush's family. The accedent was a series of unfortunate events. Blame, stone throwing, letters are just a knee jerk reaction and when its fueled by axe grinding ignorance and witch hunts we dishonor Anusha's life and contributions. Maybe Ms. Swalgen, Ms. Storm and Mr. Luke could stay down for a while and allow the family to get through this ordeal. What these adults seem to forget is that there are kids here, friends of Anusha that have to make some sort of sense of this, kids that have the heavy burden of dealing with death for the first time. There is now an empty chair in class as a reminder to them everyday, Adults need to take the lead and help these young people through this. Lay down your axe and stone and honor Anusha Yagey.

Well said Coach. I understand it's natural to want to look to blame someone, but this was a very very unfortunate accident. Blame will not bring Anusha back or heal his family.

For the sake of the family, don't let the memory of this kid be shadowed by anger and hatred.

That's the type of support I expect from my staff. BOE wrapped around one pinky and staff wrapped around the other. All about control, just like the media. Surprised nobody noticed that the WKTV piece failed to interview the angry commoners. Good to have control, people want to keep their jobs they had better fall in line, family members too...

The family said on the news, they do not want a war. It certainly is heated with social media and heavily opinionated people wanting to "get to the bottom of it" or put their two cents in, fault vs. no fault.
I would say it bodes well for Kathy that the family isn't out for blood, maybe she'll stick around after all :).....(
An investigation will just say it was a tragic set of circumstances, no fault on the part of the admin.
I would say to place all the blame on Kathy would be unfair, I'm sure she's aware that many are out for her head.
To say she had no responsibility, seems to err on the side of not-in-the-know or "has no kids, no clue, sits at home on a screen, making empty-headed remarks".
Remsen had a 2 hour delay, Adirondack closed, so two bordering districts thought the weather warranted at least a 2 hour delay. HP needed at least an hour delay to allow the plows to clean up the roads better, you could see on the WSYR video just how sloppy 365 was.
Also, just because all the buses got to school fine, does not mean no delay was justified. The buses are 4 wheel drive rigs being driven by experienced adults. Many others who drove to school (students and faculty), had a treacherous sojourn.
Yes it was an accident and usually when one occurs, we look back and determine how it can be prevented in the future, and yes we also look at if it was preventable. In this case, all signs point to "yes".
Sure the parents could have not sent a 17 year old out in sloppy roads, that was a judgement call that many other parents obviously made, siding on letting them drive. Though parents would not have to make these kind of decisions if safety was taken first on the school's part.
A 1 or 2 hour delay and everybody gets to school safe, and most importantly the school still receives that money from the wonderful state of NY.
To the lowbrow assertions about the populace, there are some wonderful people in the area, just like any other town.... You know, just like in any town/city .. Utica, there are some low-life, petulant snakes that hide from the populace, and make snide comments anonymously.
Good day

When the roads are bad and there is school I do not let my senior drive to school with friends. She has to take the bus or on rare occasion I drive her. Parents need to be parents. If the parents of these poor boys thought the roads were that bad they should not have let them drive. Period. End of story. It is parenting 101.

I can't believe people are defending this Davis woman. This is a problem that's been ongoing, this is not the first time she's kept school open under dangerous conditions because something important was going on (testing, etc). I drove on those roads, they were covered with ice and slush and extremely dangerous, some of the worst I've seen. The accident was about 5 minutes from the HP schools, so the excuse that the weather was "local" is total crap. I drove all the way from Alder Creek up to the roadblock on 365 that morning and the roads were awful the whole way.

You are sick to post that under her name. You are a sick sick sick disgusting person to use the death of a child for your personal agenda. You are exactly the kind of person his mom spoke against yesterday. You should be ashamed, but I doubt you are. A person like you lacks conscience.

You are a model parent, thank you! If you need a job let me know ;)

Seriously, I need you parents to make the right call because I can't. I see Lake Effect Squalls and all I can think about is spring break....I'll be damned if I'm going to shorten my spring vacation just because some parents don't have the sense to recognize bad weather! As if I'm really capable of making all these tough decisions, sheesh! Just because its School Admin. 101, they can't blame me for everything.
