However, closer scrutiny revels that Reed and Tyksinksi aren't that different after all. Both Reed and Tyksinski greatly expanded Town spending with very little of it benefiting ordinary New Hartford residents.
Reeds trick was to drain down the Town's rainy day fun to zero to hide his reckless spending. Tyksinksi for his part has greatly increased the town's debt by 3 million dollars, every penny of which NH taxpayers will have to pay in the future.
Both Reed and Tyksinski increased town spending, increased the town's debt all the while decreasing services to middle class New Hartford residents. Including trash removal and sewer repairs Tysksinksi has canceled or delayed critical storm water work in Chadwicks, Washington Mills and New York Mills.
So who has benefited from Tyksinski's taxpayer funded spending spree? Well, like a reverse Robin Hood Tyksinski has robbed middle class taxpayers in order to millionaire devlopers for so called economic development. For example, instead of using $600,000 for badly needed Storm Water flood control Tyksinski instead built an access road for millionaire developer Larry Adler for his Hampton Inn. To make matters worse, Tyksinski gave Adler a free ride for his hotel, paying no property taxes at all. Tyksinski has also given similar giveaways to other millionaire developers throughout New Hartford.
For New Hartford taxpayers this is double whammy. Not only are they deprived of any tax dollars these properties might have provided the town they are also on the hook to pay for the fire, police, sewer and road maintenance costs.
Under Tyksinki, New Hartford Taxpayers are getting it from all sides. Tyksinski is squeezing them dry of taxes to in order to transfer the money to millionaires and when that isnít enough he borrows millions of dollars of which NH taxpayers will be on the hook to pay for decades to come. Even worse, he uses middle class taxpayers to pay for the fire, police, and road maintenance for this development while leave his millionaire friends off the hook. Tyksinki has sold out New Hartford Taxpayers, all for a $1,000 campaign donation.
It gets even worse. In a rush to get these developments through Tyksinski have short circuited environmental impacts reviews. The result is the uncontrolled flooding in New York Mills, Chadwicks, and Washington Mills. Year after year, people of New Hartford have been losing their homes and property all so Tyksinski can provide welfare to millionaires.
So New Hartford, you have a choice. Do you continue as useful tools for Tyksinski to transfer your hard earned cash to millionaires? Do you allow your flooding neighborhoods to be ignored by Tyksinski while Tyksinski builds $600,000 roads for millionaires? Vote tomorrow and be heard.
