It's nice they do so much charity but to make an entire commercial bragging out how much charity they do seems tacky... I mean people donate or do charitable things to help not for recondition .seems the carbones Donate just for the tax write offs and bragging rights...

Essentially every business does this. Why are uticans so jealous of the carbones?

Carbone auto is the biggest ripoff going, why people buy cars from them is a mystery

Actually, no. Every business does not do this.

In fact, I don't remember watching television last night and having to sit through 20 Adirondack Bank, or Indium, or Conmed commercials every hour... where one of the sons is pretending to be a star, with a giant fake a## grin on his face, wearing a thousand dollar suit, talking to us all in some poor-acting-pretend-excitement voice, telling us all how all they do is give back to all the little people. Actually, no, all you do is drink scotch and chase women. I get it, when you boil it down, they are just used car salesmen. But still, the arrogance, the elitism, it is comical.

Look, the Carbone model is simple, get the big local contracts by networking at every charity, non-profit, event in town. Then take the small walk-in sales and make whatever buck off those can be made. They cornered the car market in Utica a generation ago. After that, they could pretty much cruise, sit back, and cash checks.

Unfortunately for them, all good things come to an end. At some point, given the present leadership, they will make some misstep that leads to declining sales. For their sake, I hope it is a long drawn out decline in response to pricing, or service, or politics and not some big fast problem like gambling, taxes, drugs, alcohol, or prostitution. Because really, would anything surprise us at this point with the people we are talking about?

You can believe whatever you want about business' and charity but it does happen the majority of the time. Evidently you don't pay attention that well especially around the holidays.

Now on to carbones business plan. What big "local contracts" are you talking about and how "walk in" business is insignificant. Please explain this because as someone in the car business for almost twenty years and very familiar with the carbones I know for a fact this is far from the truth. Also as far as any decline for the carbone auto group...try again. They've only been expanding and have for years.

and lets be real. If alex didn't think he looked good with a beard, the no-shave november promotion to "raise awareness" would not exist at carbone.

They would just send the red cross a check like the rest of the local business owners and leave the promotion and the awareness campaign to the non-profit.

Instead, it is all, "Hey look at me. I'm on tv. I'm 41 and I can grow a beard."

First of all you are flawed thinking that a non profit is actually a non profit business. Lol

Second,y every single private for profit business absolutely woukd advertise they donated money if they had the avenue to do so. Just look at all of the sponsors for the ridiculous heart run and walk. Hopefully that will let in sink in to your simple utican mind. Or how about toys for tots? Why do business' do this? To get mentioned as a drop off location and to get people in their business. Please tell me you're just bring argument ive and not this simple.

Wow. You graduated from new Hartford high school in the early 90's and you're still stuck in utica? I feel bad for you. Btw I'm not dave and alex carbone didn't graduate from new Hartford high school but that's why you're stuck where you are and keep trying.

Two reasons you're stuck in utica. You think I'm Dave and you forget simple things that you try to use to make an ignorant point. That's why at the end of the day you still live in a garbage region 20 plus years after you graduated and I live in the second wealthiest suburb in upstate ny.

I love how you brag about leaving New Hartford for, "a suburb of Albany" ooooh right, we know, we know, the 2'nd wealthiest town in NY blah blah blah. At the end of the day you are still a used car salesman bragging about living in Central NY.
I'm here because my lucrative business is here that affords me and my family a very nice lifestyle.
I have an MBA, have lived in NYC and Boston and chose to come back here for several factors.
I own a second vacation home (on the ocean) and am quite happy with my lifestyle here, no commute, etc, etc.. No complaints here except for the snow and that's why I travel a lot.
Maybe you should get off your ass, get off Topix and explore the world beyond Central/Upstate NY.
You are 42/43 years old, I think it's time you found out what's important in your life (besides Pearl Jam). Go out and live your life, stop trolling people on the internet and maybe, just maybe you will find some joy in your life. I can only imagine the kind of life you have when you spend hours a day on a Utica Topix site when you don't even live here. And in case you are getting me confused with others as you claim to be, this is only my third time posting on this site. One of my classmates told me you were on here trolling everybody so I had to come check it out for myself.
You won't see me here again so good luck to you Dave. I have a family and business to take care of.

And I'm sure from the information I gave in that post you could figure out who I am, and I don't care. I am proud of my life, my business, my family and how I conduct myself so nothing to hide.

I know who this is! Way to proclaim a vacation house on the ocean. You rent it! If you are going to come in here at least tell the truth. Don't you know you can't lie on topix? Dave Smith was one hell of a goalie for your New Hartford Spartans with his main man Mike Malloy! Both class of '91

Well you can believe I'm whomever you believe I am but the reality is if you lived in NYC and Boston and then moved back to utica it's because you were nothing short of being a failure. I personally couldn't care less who anyone here is but you seem to be no different as is most people here..intent on "exposing" everyone. I'll wait for your reply while living here in the second wealthiest suburb in upstate New York while you whither away in utica. I'm presuming you'll respond within the hour...and get off of your "I only have posted here three times and I have a family and business to take care of" horse. You obviously failed out of nyc and Boston. Enjoy utica.

As far as the carbone group declining or just living off of "big local contracts" grow up again. Please explain what "big local contracts" they have. Considering I've been in the car business for almost twenty years and very familiar with this group Id like to hear your pee brained explanation. Also, the group is only expanding and has been for years. Grow up.
Just so happens they are not even in the top 100 dealer groups anymore, as they bragged.
