The county wants to give the city 100 grand to put the rank lost to individuals back where they were. Bad idea, Marino is not to smart. Listened to him on the news last night. This guy is a typical lip service elected official and when he rambles he makes no point. Let me ask you this councilman Marino, Is the county going to give the city 100 grand next year and the years after to keep these favorite sons in clover that are on the UPD? Chief Williams like Chief Brooks would sell the city down the river all in the name of public safety. The one thing both of these misfits do not understand is that the city is about to go belly up.

Listen when they demoted these useless rank they had now put more police on the street, now if they reinstate the brass they will now be taking cops Off the strwet to hang around the station making coffee and doing nothing as rank does. What a no brainer!

I disagree. As President Moorehouse said last night at the Common Council Meeting - "We went too far in the cuts we made to UPD".
Our City has been taken over by Drug Dealers and criminals. Summer is coming and attacks on our Policemen are going to increase as it usually does in the summer months. We need every single policeman to keep this City from becoming another Detroit, and other drug infested cities. None of us want to see another Policeman get severly injured or even worst.
If taxpapers (and I'm one)are worried about the cost of maintaining the needed number of staff required by UPD, then I would suggest they become more active and start assisting UPD when called for.
Anyone that has ever met Chief Williams and Chief Brooks soon realize they are far from willing to "sell this city down the river". To call them "misfits" is not only insulting, it is also incendiary and far from the truth.
This city would be much better off without the likes of Morehouse, Williams, and Brooks. There is way too much rank in the UPD and the UFD, we need the people on the street, not behind some desk. If the Military operated like the UPD and the UFD we would all be talking Japanese or German. It is the men in the trenches that fight the crime not the men behind the desks. WISE UP, you are being misled by these to civil servants that would bankrupt the city if they had to if it would insure keeping their lackies in clover.

By the way I listened to Morehouse on Talk of The Town this morning and I can clearly say this man is a major league idiot.

<quoted text>Are you forgetting all about the Sgt.s, 1st & 2nd Lts., Majors, Captains, Generals that the Military have to issue the Orders and Follow-up on what the soldiers are doing?
No organization can operate successfully without the Chiefs watching over the Indians!!!
You are a total jerk off and probably the wife of one of these fags. The fact is the patrolmen don't even want this to happen because it means less guys on the street. Last I checked these five guys are still there and are actually more useful on the street so they can actually supervise. Were getting these five pieces of shit for a cheaper price and they now do more work. Duhhhh

The City is OVER staffed bu about 40 officers compared to other Cities of comparable size. Bad enough that the City is over staffed but they are also over paid and that compounds the problem. Other Cities entire public safety runs about 40% of total budget, Utica is almost double that. Time to cut the numbers, cut the pay, and cut the benefits. The last thing the City needs is to pay more for officers to sit behind desks and not be on the street. Get rid of them all and then hire back at lower rates.
