Lets Be Honest

Utica, NY

#1 Feb 27, 2013
Okay let's be honest, I see all these posts about good athletes and Und and proctor, and I mean what athlete right now in high school either proctor or und is going anywhere? You have athletes at proctor but can't get intoschools because of there grades then you have kids at Und on the athletics teams ok smith is going d1 for baseball Pittman low d1 for basketball .. I'm just saying who is really going anywhere ? After this year proctor sports will suck and after this year und sports will suck! No great mid major to big time d1 talent coming out of Utica !! Sorry

Too TRUE. Utica (MUNY) is full of juiced studs that missed their major league calling but tend to relive the better years through softball. These are all the kids that played at Proctor and couldn't even make the team at MVCC but pay their $25 for another shot at glory.

Kevin Warmack. You forgot Pat Moore ,Mike Galnese,Jordan Croback, and Zane Smith all athletes playing D1! All from ND. So far almost every Ivy League school has shown interest in Warmack. I beleive Buffalo State as well. Get your facts right before you make statements. Before these athletes there has been at least 20 others in ND history go D1 on some level AA or not still is. D1. These are great accomplishments for these kids and our community why do all you people keep trying to knock it? Answer would have to be jealousy!
I'm not sure what sport the Warmack kid plays but I believe Buff State is D3. Maybe you mean U of Buffalo which is D1 and part of the MAC. Good luck to him in any event.

PS: Don't forget about Will Smith.

The ND kids are all average. Croback only going to U Albany not for talent but because his brother went there. The Warmack kid is alright too. The Proctor kids are average as well. Smith is ok . But you guys need to remember ND don't compete with teams that are competitive so you can't compare them with Proctor. They would get stomped if they played bigger schools.

One more thing even if they get into a D1,D2, or D3 that doesn't mean anything. Most of theses kids won't even be considered for the NFL. They may have a little talent but not that good. Most of the guys you named will probably not see a day on the field for D1. I already forgot what school and positioned thy played. If I can't remember nobody will. They are definitely forgettable. I think they better study hard nd focus on school. And that is all.....

Emily Durr!!! Great!!does anyone else get the ball. One dumb mistake these local school coaches make including ND is the get a kid and that's the only get the focus on.Wait here's one ,they love to play kids out of position. Lets face it most of these kids are getting in these D1 schools because of "Oh wait a good firiend of mine from college coaches there. So sad !!!! Lets face it ND talent isn't that raw. Proctor has mismanaged raw talent that you don't see everyday. If you have a coach that don't give you enough time on the field what is a kid to do. For future reference to anyone who wants there kids to go far run from this area. Don't fall for that go to Nd trick. I don't see what the hype is there.

Please enough with the K Warmack lies. He's a good high school player, but no where near his dads skills. Ivy League Schools? No Way. He is never even on honor roll! The Ivy schools take top 5% academic, not a kid who barely is eligible.

Yes, let's give ND credit for recruiting kids that were developed in other towns and schools. 100% of those kids would have been successful in any program.

Div 1 2 3. Who gives a crap if your good your good. It doesn't matter i. Some of the greatest athletes didn't even play Div 1. Div 1 is just a hyped up thing anyways. Did you see the NFL combine . You can't even tell who went to a Div1 school. Some weren't that fast ut has good footwork. If they didn't have footwork they were fast. I only saw one kid that had the whole package. If you paid attention half of the prospects didn't know which way to look for the ball during the field work. And theses were supposedly top nfl draft. Really!!! I couldn't tell. Some of them look like the average Joe. Even if a kid makes it to Div 2 that is just as good. Div 1 is just like going to a catholic school . It's hyped up more only because they have more money than the other schools. It doesn't mean ALL athletes are better. If your good your good. Even the NFL coaches have stated some of the best athletes come out of small schools. You just have to get yourself out there and get the right exposure .

You guys kill me with this ,"my kids go to New Hartford ."My kids go to Notre Dame" . Who freakin cares. You guys live a block away from the City of Utica limits. You sound ridiculous. You probably all were raised in corn hill anyways. It's all a mental thing. Get over it already. These kids use more drugs and alcohol than any other kids in the area. These schools don't make you.

All the kids you mention are great high school athletes, but you need to pump the brakes a little! No schools are showing interest in Warmack - because they can't yet NCAA rules prohibit it... He is too young. You have a lot of nerve including Chroback, he went to ND for 3 months. National letter of intent day for football already passed, I don't remember seeing Jordan sign anywhere anyway...

NCAA rules allow a college to make a verbal offer at any point and the athlete may verbally commit at any time. NLI is signed in the athletes Junior year. In fact, Nick Saban at Alabama just offered an 8th grader for football this week.

Verbal Commitment/Offer - Student-athlete's commitment to a school before he or she signs (or is able to sign) a National Letter of Intent.

A collegebound student-athlete or college coach can announce a verbal commitment or offer at any time. While verbal commitments have become very popular for both college-bound student-athletes and coaches, this "commitment" is NOT binding on either the college-bound student-athlete or the institution. Only the signing of the National
Letter of Intent accompanied by a financial aid agreement is binding on both parties.
