Guess he wants to build a four story apartment building and a strip mall on corner of French Rd and Genesee Street, there is a meeting about this Monday June 11th at City Hall, 5pm, please come to show your disapproval of this idea.

It would be nice if the OD or WKTV picks up on this story early on and keeps the public informed rather than having some cockamayme project fly under the radar and become a done deal before those affected can speak up.

Four story building and strip mall on French and Genny, NO WAY. Where is there space for that. How about moving to French and Seward. It's vacant and needs development.......... oh that's right Chanatry's may be affected.

yes he is a tremendous douchebag i have dealt with him before when i was selling building supplies and he is the biggest strokejob ever....and yes he would be flat on his ass if it wasnt for mommy and daddy!....and didnt he (behind the scenes) have something to do with the family in utica getting in trouble with asbestos a couple years ago

Hey genius unless your house on French Rd is worth 1 Mill +, which it is not, it will not lower your value. Values have to do with comparables in your neighborhood. Commercial Real Estate is not considered in that comparison. So if you can explain to me why building something that is not considered in valuing your personal property would have an effect on that value, please let me know.

Commercial development greatly reduces the value of residential property in close proximity.

Maybe in Texas. Our values are already at rock bottom. They hardly are affected by things of this nature in our area. While the nations home prices fell ours went up 8%. The investment hardly covers materials used to produce it these days. If that is true what about the value of the homes in close proximity to the NH shopping center, which is near his home. Or Chanatrys or the building that will go on the old site on the Corner of seward and French, what about the values of the homes close to the business park in the mills? What about the value of the homes and offices on Oxford Rd? I don't think any of these have been affected. Like I said before the value has to do with comps of similar structures in your neighborhood sold in the last yr.

Right it is still "lightly" contaminated, but it is ready for sale. it has been zoned for light industrial use. Unfortunately what we consider light industrial use may be very different from what a resident in the area may want.

Thank You WKTV for reporting on this story! I agree with the commentors on the WKTV site, that neighborhood is not the right place for this type of project. There are areas all over Utica that could really benefit from something like this but definitely not on the corner of French and Genesee.

The problem is they are refusing to clean the creek that runs under the property. Trust me it is not lightly contaminated. However, I would not was the money to clean the property, Just build and blacktop and you will be fine. No kids parks should be allowed. And it is listed for sale, but the owners (corporations) are not accepting any offers that do not take over the contamination..Which you would be crazy to do with todays BS laws

Did u see the ppl at the meeting? All over 50... This city needs a new class of citizenry, all the neighbors who complained hate change because if things do there will be no time left for them, there are multi unit buildings all around this area that are run down, its time for a upscale project that is NEW!
