How long are people going to believe that utica is the "Gateway to the Adirondacks" and how long are the "leaders" there going to keep trying to pound that into people's skulls when it's in fact very far from the truth. This just this weekend.

http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/State...

I'm sure the utica region had 7 miles of backed up traffic coming from the adirondacks from the weekend right? The reality is every weekend the northway gets backed up for at least a few miles of travelers going north. Route 12? Not so much. Some of the sh it you people believe there is mind blowing. Lol

State Police: Holiday traffic snarls Northway

COLONIE Southbound traffic on the Northway slowed to a crawl or worse Sunday afternoon between the Twin Bridges and the Thruway interchange as thousands of holiday vacationers headed home, authorities said.

The gridlock, which extended as far as seven miles north to Exit 7 in Latham, were not the result of a crash but the sheer volume of traffic at the close of the long Independence Day weekend, State Police said.

What's there to do in the Adirondacks? Nothing. It's a vast forest that until only recently didn't even have cell reception. It's too far out of the way for people from New York or Boston to visit. When people from those cities want to get away they go to the Catskills or the Berkshires. There are no good skiing or camping places worth mentioning. The only reason someone might drive through the Adirondacks is if they were going to Montreal. Just pray your car doesn't break down.
Anything that actually earns money is along 87. Saratoga...lake george...lake placid. All from down state...but put that utica sign up believers! Lol

When was the last time you were in the Adirondacks? People come from all over the northeast to be there. Maybe you should get off your ass and take a trip up there and see what you are missing.

As of his 2008 House financial disclosure filing, Republican congressional challenger Richard Hanna had investments valued at $750,000 to $1.5 million in two companies that could play a major role if plans to drill for natural gas in the Marcellus Shale region south of Utica move forward.
