so what you are saying if the demand for gas goes up the price goes up but i have a question if cars are going green and the demand is going down why is gas going up ???? cars are useing less gas not more so the price should go down and if more people dont work then thats less people driveing cars gas should be going down not up the president said he was forming a commision for oil seems like that commission is not doing their jobs because gas should be going down not up its a fact more cars are green the president knows their is money in gas this is why the goverment wants to start charging tax on miles in peoples cars

because of the demand then they where produceing gas guzzling cars then it cought up to us and went down after everyone had their fun the cars now are green and the prices should be going down because the demand is down now

Oil is less than 100 dollars a barrel and at that price gas should be under 3 dollars per gallon. Obama is allowing big oil to price gouge and rape the American economy.

Something that hasn't been mentioned above is large institutional investors are buying oil futures for their customers. Those customers include the pension plans of government worker's unions, labor unions, teachers unions and mutual funds in general.

The reason that those investors buy oil futures is because it is one of the few safe places to put their clients funds. They call it "speculating".

Government bonds, which used to be the safe bet are faltering and the Federal Reserve now owns 61% of US debt. With the current administration that debt will increase even more and the Fed has announced that they will keep buying it as long as it takes. It is called "Quantitative Easing" and is being tried for the third time not including the two "Twists" tried in between.

Oil is priced in dollars and as the Fed increases money supply it exerts monetary pressure on prices. It is called inflation and one of the few things that are less susceptible to it are commodities.

Oil is a commodity.

Therefore the president is somewhat responsible for the price of oil by not reigning in government spending or the Fed. The Bushies made the same mistake and Obama has doubled down on those mistakes.

If you want lower gas prices then call your representatives in government and tell them to stop with the excessive spending. It isn't a republican or democrat thing it is a political thing.

Stop asking the government to do things that you should do for yourself.

Or learn to like it because you'll just get a lot more of the same.

I work for a living and don't watch much TV. It is pretty simple. Most news I read comes from online sources such as the NYT, Wall St Journal and links from many different websites and blogs that I visit and trust.

All the news networks are designed for those who can't or won't think for themselves, who like being spoken to as if they were children, don't have the curiosity to go to direct sources or only visit sites or watch news that affirms their confirmation bias.

That is why there seem to be so many zombies on both sides of the aisle.

I am a small 'l' "libertarian" but I run to the politically conservative side. They used to call us "liberals" but then the "progressives" usurped that name and ran it into the dirt.

I prefer the moniker "classical liberal" but to the zombies on the right they think that means I'm "progressive" and people on the left have no idea what it means.
