I like the college hockey but only about a quarter of the fans actually pay attention. The other 75% are either getting out of their seats every five minutes or texting. Mostly the college students do this. This wouldn't happen nearly as much if ee had pro hockey, which probably won't happen.

Dear Utica: UC plays quality hockey, tix are affordable, they draw big crowds, and, most importantly, they pay their bills. Bring in a pro team? All we have to say is, "Don't puck up the good thing you already have." Sincerely, All the previous bogus teams that screwed you.

They can't wait to start on it and won't be deterred until it falls flat on it's face. You haven't been paying attention the last 20 years then. When given an opportunity to do their job instead of make a big deal out of something like this, WHEN have you ever seen anyone from that mental sinkhole do the right thing vs the greedy "I wanna be in charge and need praise" thing?
They gravitate toward the lowest common denominator logic and personality rule. Sure hope you can fight it but all the big OOOtica Indian Chiefs are probably deciding who's "In Charge" and who get the new job already LMAO!

What does OOOtics mean? I know you're referring to Utica but is there some meaning to OOOtica? I see a few posters speling it this way. Is it supposed to be funny?

The mayor says he is in favor because this is a done deal. These people have money and they are buying the Aud. U.C. will stay but will of course not have first scheduling rights. I tend to agree with you who say it doesn't make sense but it's going to happen. The county will sell the Aud to them to save money. Don't kill the messenger please but this is already in the works. U.C. knows it's comming

Five year contract with UC and the aud is in place. The city can't sell the aud. Regional aud commission is separate entity from city of Utica.

I'm sorry folks, this is getting old! UC did a great job building the program and branding their product. However, this is a hockey savvy area. Most of us want pro hockey here. I'm a die hard hockey fan but would rather drive to cuse to see a pro game versus going to watch UC. If the financial nightmares caused by past pro teams can be avoided pro hockey will work here. Smart fans know the difference between college and pro hockey, others will bitch that the move will jeopardize UC's future here. Who gives two fucks? At the tns of the day they play D3 hockey. BTW I played hockey for most of my 38 years and will acknowledge that D3 hockey is way beyond what I could have achieved as a player. However this does not mean I'm an ignorant fan. Anyone that would prefer to keep UC at the aud instead of an AHL team is a hockey dummy.

Dear True, Oneida County has no say in the matter of aud. See: Regional Aud Authority.
Dear enough, you may have enough passion for pro hockey, just no business sense. Too many saves with your noggin sans helmut.
History of Utica area teaches us all we need to know about pro hockey. It doesn't work here. So called 'fans' of pro hockey will attend in sufficient numbers only if: home team wins every game, engages in bloody fights every period, and beer and ticket prices are 1950's era.
Keep UC hockey; it makes the most sense.

Hockey Admin, The Aud Authority also has a lease to manage the Aud and it is expiring. U.C. will stay but a large corp. that owns several arenas already will own the Aud and the AHL team. I understand why you think this will fail and I agree with the arguments that it will. This is going to happen though. Like it or not.
