The Aud doesn't meet the minimum requirement for seating in the AHL. They would have to build a new arena. Educate yourself or shut up.
The seating requirements you are referring to no longer exist. Look it up.

Some advice- Better to keep quiet and have everyone think you are an idiot than to speak and confirm it.

it will happen and the aud does meet requirements are you nuts or just not informed???... its going to happen....and i ask.. can you consider uc a "sellout" crowd if all the tickets are FREE??? AHL Hockey is perfect for this area and will be great economically!anyone who thinks otherwise is close minded and backwards thinking.Cheers to whoever is gonna make this happen!!!

Well,Wibx (Keeler) announced that there is some truth to this on his show two days ago. Utica is perfect for ahl now, with teams already in Syr,Roch,Bing,Albany and Glens Falls that will come to Utica when their team is here.Utica is centrally located for the Ahl.And don't think the ahl doesn't know attendance numbers from Utica college.

thought UC Hockey just signed a five year contract with the Aud. So the AHL games would have to take a backseat to UC timeslots. seems unlikely any AHL team would go for that. wishful thinking guys.

On the surface it sounds good. In real life, it can't happen.

It's true. They are in the process of trying to work out the scheduling logistics having an ahl team and uc at the aud! Probably won't be here until the '14-'15 season! Ask Heenan he knows all about it

binghamton is twice the shithole this area is and they have a team and it does quite well. ahl will do great here. I know this area will support a team.

This area will support a team only if they win. Once the team loses some games the aud will be empty. This was the problem when the devils were here. No one cared that several future NHL stars were playing in the aud. They only wanted a team that put up wins and that is not what minor league sports are about. It's about player development. They could barely get 1000 people to commit to buying season tickets.$15 was a good deal to see future NHL stars and even current ones now and then on rehab compared to the cost of going to a NHL game. People around here are dumb and have no appreciation for what we had. The echl would be a good fit for the aud but in my opinion we won't see pro hockey back here again.

I do agree with you however, in most cities if your team loses more than you win, the crowds aren't as great. The difference is, we're a smaller city than most in the AHL so, our small crowds would be smaller than most other cities would consider small crowds. I'd love to see the AHL here but like you said, the ECHL would be a better fit.

Ok Educate me lets here what your requirements are then i will send you the Franchise Requirements lol. But i understand you cant afford to go watch pro hockey. You would rather watch a bunch of DIII guys run around that are not going anywhere that's ok LOL.

This area couldn't support AHL in the 80's and can offer even less support now. I had season tickets for the Devils then, and watched the crowds dwindle down because they didn't win enough and didn't fight enough for this drunken contingent of spectators. WWF would be a much better fit for this area.

To be honest with you it seems that Utica is turning into a college sports town. As much as I'd rather see pro hockey, baseball, etc. this is what we have. Let's be honest, Syracuse is no pro sports town. SU dominates between basketball and football. The Chiefs crowds are laughable and when I've seen the Crunch play a handful of times on Time Warner, there were a whole bunch of empty seats. They say in all the college major sports DIII hockey is the closest to any DI sport. For example, Syracuse DI would demolish Utica College DIII in football but Colgate and Utica College might be somewhat competitve. I'm sure that Colgate would beat them just about every time but it might be close at times

Delusional thinking as usual. Utica is even less attractive for sports organizations now than it was when the Devils left. This place is a craphole. The Rangers don't even know what Utica is nevermind putting a team here. Why would they send players here when the majority of the city is Bosnian and Blacks now?Neither demographic knows/cares about hockey.

Anybody who thinks that professional hockey wouldn't be successful in this area clearly doesn't know their ass from a whole in the ground. When the Devils were here the AUD was always packed. It's our shitty greedy politicians that moved them out because of neglect. Then they allowed bullshit teams like the Blizzard, Bulldogs, and Prowlers who never had a chance. If we can put that many people in the seats for that half-assed overhyped college puck, then an AHL team would be no problem. It's the fact that someone might actually have to do some research and work to get them here, and let's face it, Utica doesn't "have time for that." Hence why a college runs the AUD, they didn't have to do anything for them to play there they just took what they can get, typical Utica politics. Then wonder why businesses and residents are fleeing.
