I decided that I wasn't being fair. So I visited lots of libraries around. Dunham is the worst. It's the staff who are surly and NEVER smile. And no new books. What's the point of a bookstore in a library anyway. I really like the smaller libraries like New York Mills and Oriskany but Utica is good too. The worst part is that I pay taxes to support the Dunham library and I'm not getting my moneys worth. Where's the Board in all of this.
It must really suck to be you.

The work of re doing a place such as a library cannot be done over night , you might want to return there now and check it out . BTW most libraries in our state are run on a shoe string budget and with state aid declining every year and every thing else going up be happy you still have an open library to call your own . They are closing public libraries all over the country .

Welll.... they sell books to make money and room for newer books, especially updated volumes. I thought that would be kind of obvious. And like someone else said... donate a few books if you think they aren't keeping up well. Don't forget that they also have inter-library loans there too, so you can order a book that is on the shelf in Utica or Clinton. You also need to figure out if they have a newer book in ebook form.

I dislike a lot of things about the Mohawk Valley, but I tend to leave Dunham alone. They've treated me very well. I don't care about the DVDs. The only complaint I have is very slight; the only outlet for laptops are by the coffee maker.

As for New Hartford... I'm not involved in the crazy politics over there, so I don't have a bone to pick with them either. At least the construction seems newer than Kirkland or Utica.
