the cops treated mark as a runaway.. they really screwed that one up. the boys were last seen getting into a car with a man. this was outside of the bar DJs that was notorious for serving under age kids. marks permit which he had just gotten was in his wallet at home. why would he leave that when he was going to run away. they need to re open this case give the family of mark and the other guy some closure.. <quoted text>
tell us more. this case has the makings of a cold case solution if enough people remember the details. I know the family of Seelman and they would love a solution.

I got to say this has been the most captivating thread I've seen on Topix yet. Does anyone remember a so called hit and run on River Road in Marcy around (I think) 1983. His name was Donald (Duck) O'Connor. They say it was a hit and run but many believe he was murdered. There were a lot of unanswered questions with his death. Hopefully someone out there (Shadow) know something more.

The cold case of Kim Simon is close, I believe if everyone could take a second and help send the story to the links below and get it national attention
it could be added to the solved list and family's could have some peace after 25 years.

If I can get one of the news agency's to post this story, and you have a case you would like help with,
please post it and I will see if I can get them to run it also.

You can also post your story to the links I post,
if they can help you, it would be great to see it happen.

Please help.

People of topix I need a little help, I have submitted written info to the producers of 20/20 and
Good Morning America, this is what I ask you to help me with, remember we are a team, and as a team we can make the guilty pay.

When you go to the two ABC links, you will see a column, it has the shows you can submit to, please
submit to 20/20 and Good Morning America, I can't tell you if they will help us, but if we hound them,
it just helps our chances.

To whom it may concern:

There is a cold case that I plead you to air and bring national attention to for the sake of it being solved. It is the Kimberly Simon Murder. On Sept. 18, 1985, The police discover her body the following day, less than a mile from her home. She was beaten, strangled, and sexually assaulted and was murdered. Steven Barnes is convicted of murdering her in 1989. He is released in 2008 with the help of his mother and the Innocence Project. He is excluded by DNA and released from jail, he was innocent. Now, local investigators are trying to make an airtight case. They have a difficult job ahead of them with an overturned conviction. AMW tried to help by airing the case in March 2010.

The 25th anniversary of Kim's death and murder will be September 18, 2010. PLEASE HELP!
Even if you just give the story a 2-3 minute spot, it could bring the guilty to justice.
This is what is needed, if you could just let people know this--, There is a small neighborhood called Perry Manor, manor, manors, located off RT 12B in New Hartford NY, if anyone was friends or dated someone in this area you might have been told something by one of the guilty, please contact the Kim Simon task force-(three one five, seven nine eight, fifty four hundred), if you remember anything that you were told by someone in this neighborhood, even something small such as I did something bad. The family's and friends need
peace for 25 years of suffering.

This sounds like the case of Johnny Lee Bell. I want to say the kid was about 8 at the time, in the late 70s or early 80s. From what I recall he was missing, then they finally found his body in the basement of some house in cornhill. I believe someone was ultimately prosecuted, but it was like 10 years later. I was about the same age as the kid when it happened, and I remember being terrified by the story.
Question wrote:
Speaking of mysteries, there is one that I have always been wondering about. I don't know if this one really happened and don't know many details, but I have long wondered if there is any truth to it. I remember being in a bar in Utica back around 1998 or so. I don't know if that is the exact year, I could be off by a few years. I was sitting near a group of people who where talking about some sort of drug deal in a Cornhill crack house that had gone bad,and found myself listening in on their conversation. One of them said that their friend had stabbed a young black man and then ran out of the house. He was saying that his friend didn't know that the kid died from the stabbing, and learned about it from the tv news the next day. Does anyone here have any knowlege of such an occurance? This overheard conversation has bothered me for a long time, and I would like to know if this is something that actually happened, of if I was just listening to a bunch of drunks. If true, this would definately be an unsolved mystery.

#1 mystery. How does Burrito Blues stay open without any customers? Pretty shady operation. Are they washing drug money through there?

I thought Johnny Lee Bell was the boy who was going to the store on roller skates, and came up missing.. He was later found dead in a basement. I also was around his age, so the story is pretty foggy in my memory.. I just remember what a sad story it was, the horrific story or a missing child and then death of an innocent child..
