Here is the story.
Mr. Bretti was targeted by the organized crime task force. Two of the prosecutors on the task force are now judges. Both knowingly charged and tried Mr. Bretti for a crime he did not commit. Three men were indicted. One was offered immunity. He accepted the deal and told his story. That he and Mr. Donato Nappi took Mrs. Grillo for a ride. They strangered her in the car and then hit her with a rock in the head because they weren't sure she was dead. The prosecutors in the case asked if Mr. Bretti was in on it, and the defendent said that he was not. Because he didn't implicate Mr. Bretti, his immunity was revoked and the three were charged with the conspiracy and murder. Now the prosecuotrs knew that Mr. Bretti wasn't involved and buried that interrogation transcript, until the defendent died in prison. when the transcript was found, the evidence was now considered hearsay. Its all true and on the record. I have no link to any of the defendents, but I can tell you its all true and on the record from Mr. Bretti's appeals.
Prosecutors put innocent people in jail all the time. they like doing it. Look at the other big cases in the area. Desiree Case, Barnes, Bretti, and Im sure this kid that was convicted of killing the utica policeman is in the same boat.
It sickens me to see these guys looked upon as pillars of the community. Shame on them all.

I sat next to Vinny Pepe in Proctor high school business math class, he was very quiet, didn't seem like the murdering type, I guess you never really know people.

In the 1970's a highschool girl was killed and her body was found naked and tied to a tree in Proctor park. Any credible theories? I always thought that Bernard Hatch was the culprit. They should try to test the evidence for DNA. Alot of advances in forensic science since then

todd van poppel - what happen to you? you were supposed to be the pitcher of the 90's!! you were a bust, and i tore your rookie cards into a million pieces!!

I contacted someone at the timing company via email this morning, and he said human error was the cause of the Boilermaker malfunction. The primary and backup systems interfered with one another, and the operator didn't recognize it. There was no outside interference.
Kind of a disappointing # 3 all-time unsolved mystery... unless, the operator was PLANTED by an ENEMY to INTENTIONALLY disrupt the timing device at the start line (ALL CAPS used for emphasis).
Then, the ENEMIES have intercepted the timing company's emails because they knew people would be snooping around asking questions, and I didn't actually get a response from who I thought was responding, but rather the timing company's ENEMY posing as the timing company.

maybe you should also read the transcripts of tapes made between mr bretti and an FBI cooperating witness...public documents... bretti "shoot him twice in the head, twice in the stomach..drop the gun and run"
quite an upstanding citizen.

Mr. Mayonaise
Apprecitate response
I never looked at transcripts
I know little
but want him released
because i dont believe testimonies from admitted killers should warrant the convictions of others.
Figured he did enough time
Figured their are too manny irregularities about his conviction
Just trying to figure out these irregularities so that he can win an appeal
Thanx for any info or feedback

A: Lack of secondary offerings, an overrated fastball, some injuries, and a fractured development pattern. Baseball fans know how high-risk it is to draft a high school fireballer at the top of the draft.

Shadow,
After delivering the #4 unsolved mystery last fall, you said the readers were going to have to do some of the work themselves, and you wouldn't give the answers away so easily. For #3, I contacted a friend who works with RFID technology, formed some hypotheses, contacted the timing company - and yes, even asked local oracle Dick Trotta if he had any inside knowledge. Am I on the right path? Will this thread continue?

I believe it was in 1973 and the newspaper carried a story for a few days last month about the DA's office was still investigating this and holding it a high priority.
I think they are still at nothing although a new tip has come in that they are investigating it.
I remember this murder as though it was yesterday. It was horrifying to all of us young girls in Utica, NY. Scary for us all. I always wondered if they found her killer. I see here that they haven't. That poor girl. I believe it happened in the woods behind her home. To think that killer got away with such a horrible crime is unbelievable. Gives me the heebie jeebies to this day.

guys/girls i found a site where you may find some of the actual newspaper stories on these crimes. go to: www.fultonhistory.com enter the name with quotes around it "1stname lastname" to narrow results. use nicknames and/or mid initials also. he accesses 90 diff NYS newspaper archives. you can find yourself, relatives, ect. it doesn't get everything, but it is amazing some of the time. i found myself, father, mother grandad, ect.

i remember some of these mysteries let me add what i can recall.

the black man who was castrated. i grew up in the area it happened. my cousin knew who the Crouses were though he wasn't their age. the story i heard was that the Crouse's sister was dating the victim, or that he had tried to date her. it was the early 60's, racial lines were drawn and there was public shame for such couplings. Crouse wasn't having any of it. he first confronted the victim in the Brown Jug on South street. words were exchanged and suddenly the black guy produced either a straight razor or a knife and sliced Crouse across the stomach, deep, so deep Crouse had to hold his guts in until an ambulance arrived. in the hospital he refused to identify his attacker. sometime after he recovered, him and his brother (and maybe someone else) followed the guy and bushwhacked him at his apartment, where they killed him and castrated him. i heard they also tortured him first. my cousin passed away so i can't get more details than that. i believe most of this account is more or less accurate.
