Real Republican? Who are you to set yourself up as the judge of who is a real Republican and who is not? The Republican party is not just one monochrome swath of voters who march in lockstep like the Borg.

Not all Republicans are hard right wing. Some are actually more moderate and able to reach across the aisle and work with the other side in order to advance legislation. Hanna is a moderate. Boehlert who served for 24 years in that position was a moderate. A moderate can be one who believes in Republican principles but understands that our country is a representative republic and not a pure democracy where the majority rules. With Democrats holding the White House and the Senate, the only way Republicans can advance any agenda is by reaching across the aisle in the spirit of compromise. Some believe it's better to get a piece of something rather than nothing. Moderates do that. Hard right wingers do not.

Hanna is not a Democrat nor have I ever seen any evidence that he said he would even consider switching parties This is just another fabrication from those who don't agree with his moderate philosophy and it simply isn't true. I'm all about proof. If someone can prove anything I say wrong then bring it on and I'll be happy to apologize.

The things Hanna stands for are listed on his campaign website. If you are against him and intellectually honest, take a look. After you've read where he stands on the important issues of the day please report back which you disagree with.

I doubt many will actually do this because it's just easier to parrot talking points.

And there it is in a nutshell. Hanna is all but endorsed by Oneida County Democratic Chairman Mitch Ford. Hanna is the Democrat running in a Republican Primary. Why vote for a Hanna when he is most likely going to switch parties anyway. Remember Cantor Republicans. This is YOUR primary, not the Democrats!

Careful, one of the guys donating to that PAC is gay. You'll send the poor, besotted Tenney supporters into a panic at the very thought of dirty gay money in politics.
I'd be curious to see if Ms. Tenney is taking any steps to make sure the gay money that so upsets her supporters isn't flowing into her campaign. Is there an "Attestation of Heterosexuality" that donors have to complete? Or just a checkbox?
If gay money is so nasty and terrible she's surely taking steps to screen it out, right?

Another ignorant sweeping generalization.

So a Democrat endorsing a Republican means that the Republican is a turncoat? That's nonsense and it's obvious you are not a student of history. Isn't it possible a Democrat could endorse a Republican candidate because the Democrat feels that the Republican candidate is someone they could work with in the spirit of compromise? This rather than a hard line right winger who's not willing to try to meet in the middle? That's the way government used to work when it functioned and congress had an approval rating above single digits.

Hanna is a Republican. Saying anything else is nonsense. What in his record indicates that he's leaning Democrat? Is it the 47 times he voted to delay or repeal Obamacare? Does that sound like something a Democrat in Republican clothes would do? Just because he doesn't march in lockstep with the far right of the Republican Party doesn't make him any less Republican. To think otherwise is idiotic.

Hanna may be registered as a Republican for the moment but anyone who calls Republican leaders and liars and tells women to give their money to Democrats is not a Republican at heart. Not only that, Hanna is endorsed by the local Democratic party. I have never heard of any congressman of either party who works so hard to undermine his own party. It's wrong, and CNY Republicans need to take back their party.

If Hanna has this insurmountable lead over Tenney why are you so obsessed with this poll? Are you worried that Rank and File Republicans are going to take back their party on Tuesday? Remember, Democrats and independents aren't voting.

Hanna will win the Election!!!! The latest poll is that he has a 30% lead over Tenney. His record of working for our area and helping in gaining jobs and saving small businesses from going belly up speaks for itself.

Tenney's record also speaks for itself - she has done NOTHING to bring jobs into our area and has voted against for too many things that would have helped save our area instead of destroying it even ;more than what prior politicians in Albany have done.

Hanna speaks and works for the common man; Tenney works for saving her job and voting with the other politicians AGAINST anything that would benefit the common man.

Hanna will not waste his time in a debate with her as she is NOT worthy of even debating!

Tenney supporters aren't drinking tea, it's the kool aid. The last thing we need is another right wing, flat earth society member who caters to a vocal lunatic fringe portion of the Republican party. This won't even be close. The only argument is whether Hanna wins because he is doing an outstanding job (which I think he is) or wins because Tenney is such a moron. We's here in CNY may be slow, but we's ain't blind. Comparing this race to the Cantor in Virginia is a fantasy. Totally different demographics, and no matter how hard Tenney tries to paint Hanna as a Washington insider, unlke Cantor, the fact is he listens and responds to his constituents.(And her "war on women" political smear not only fell flat on its face, it has created a major backlash among women's groups in the region that know Hanna's track record.)
Claudia Tenney is a self serving political opportunist. She'll be lucky to keep her assembly seat after exposing her political naivte and willingness to twist the truth in this campaign.

HANNA needs to go back being a dirty farmer. That's all he is good for. Hanna has done nothing for us. He's a dirty farmer. That's all he is.

I don't know who will win this election but I do get a sense that there are a group of Hanna apparatchiks and their sock puppets who seem a bit more worried about his chances than they should be if their internal polling is so positive for Hanna.

I have found the ads being paid for by outside groups relentlessly negative and their depiction of Hanna as being all that is good and Tenney as being a crazed leftist are disgusting.

That Hanna and his supporters think these ads are fine and haven't condemned the tone and tenor of them speaks to the crassness of both him and his supporters.

When one rolls this in with his refusal to debate Tenney and his supporters contempt for her it would appear that Rep. Hanna and his supporters are misogynous misanthropes.

Really? You lost 22k jobs since he's been wallowing there. FACT if you want the link no problem.

Rich isn't the one who was voted the most conservative.

But the thing that soured our 2 term Hanna voting family from voting for him ever again? His denial that Benghazi was a fruitless chase just days before it totally erupted. Period. There is simply no excuse for that no matter how the fuck you slice it. We could save money if we just used a statue to go there and represent us. He's Mr. Slow Motion results.

I'm not obsessed with polling. Please look at the title of this thread and at post #1. There was a claim made that Tenney was closing fast in the polls. I found no evidence of that and posted a link that showed the contrary. I simply asked that the poster who originally said the race was close and getting closer to post evidence of that. As expected - crickets.

Rank and file take back their party? From who? A moderate who represents a moderate district? One who's Republican predecessor served 24 years as a moderate? This in favor of a far right wing zealot? Republicans in this area come in all shapes, sizes, colors, religions and opinions. Democrats and Independents aren't voting. You're right. Moderate Republicans are though. I guess we'll see Tuesday night.

You are forgetting, this is a "moderate" district only because it is evenly split between Republicans, Democrats, and independents. It's not moderate because CNY Republicans are as liberal as Hanna. And in case you forget, they are the ones voting, not your liberals and progressives.

If Tenney is elected she'll be the last Republican representative this area will see. Worst than that, she's going to be a club that the Democrats will pound the Republicans with right through the 2016 election. She's handed them "Redskin Ray" and "gay billionaire" on a silver platter. Sweet Jebus, just look through the comments here and on her Facebook page. Do you honestly think no one is screenshotting all that Democratic red meat?

The irony, of course, is that those who've drunk most deeply of the kool-aid are the ones providing all the ammunition. Two years from now, when an Arcuri clone takes the seat, they'll be the ones moaning about how unfair it all is.

Over the last 12 years where exactly has the growth in Independent registrations in the district come from? And, pray tell, what electoral impact might that have?
