Wow! Shut up? Idiot? You sound delusional even before you called your local elected officials "heroes". You lost all cred with that statement.
Technically he didnt call the elected officials heroes. He said all who were involved in bringing the new team to utica are heroes.

Yeah I actually head the same thing from more than a few people in the Lake Placid area last wkd (during final 4 tourny). I thought it was a bit overboard from the beginning but wanted to at least play out. Thanks for info!

I really hope that a team is on the way here, but of course with hope there are always doubts. Especially around here...if this is happening are they still looking at the end of the week for an announcement? If this is not true is anyone going to tell us so we can stop getting our hopes up...i hope someone has a truthful response.

FYI...this was when an ahl team returning started to take shape for utica. The locker rooms have already been completed as well. Notice the upper seats weren't touched? There's a reason for that.

With a state budget agreement about to be voted on we'll soon know what might be in there for this. The article you cited does nothing to bolster the credibility of your story and opinion. That $1 million was to replace (not add, not revise) seating and for facade improvements. A million doesn't go very far these days.

The improvements that you've mentioned in previous posts as well as what has been published elsewhere regarding the NHL's requirements for the venues used by their AHL affiliates would lead any person with an ounce of common sense to know that things like construction of luxury boxes and a video scoreboard are going to run into the multiple millions of dollars. Utica just passed a budget where they zeroed out the $2 million line item for mandated paving of city streets. There is talk that they will borrow(bond for capital improvement) the money. Now, does it sound like anyone in their right mind would suggest putting multiple millions of dollars of taxpayer money into luxury boxes and a video scoreboard? Obviously not.

I think next few days should be very telling. We'll see if there is anything in the NYS budget under the guise of economic development for an AHL team. Like I said befre as well, in my opinion Anthony(I voted for the minimum wage increase because it's "fair") Brindisi is the only local politician clueless enough to think something like this is going to fly with taxpayers.

I do believe that only a handful of people are REALLY the only ones that know what's going on. I don't believe ANYTHING anyone posts here on Topix or Facebook that state "the deal is done". The deal is most likely NOT done to our knowledge or else we most likely would have heard something.

I do agree that obviously it's about the money. At some point the Aud does need to be renevated or it will just rot like most of the buildings in Utica...and maybe that's what mot people want. So we gotta fix it at some point, whether a team comes or not. I say do it. Not just for hockey but for concerts too, anything.

We'' wait and see, but you're right, regardless of what people claim is true on here it ALL COMES DOWN TO THE BUDGET.

Will happen. You will hear soon. They have deep pocket investors lined up. State won't have to foot the whole bill.

More pieces of the puzzle. i.e. less denial as we get later into the AHL season and closer to actual announcements about next season.

Utica region just no longer has the population and economic base to support an AHL level franchise, especially if it isn't a winner right out of the gate. This isn't the late 80's anymore.
It would be the smallest population city in the league, with the one of the smallest capacity rinks 4,000.
Maybe in the ECHL.

I agree, it's hard to see how this will work unless the team is a top-notch one. I do disagree with the ECHL. The only thing that will work is AHL...AHL or bust. We filtered through enough of those leagues after the Devils left
