Are any other parents experiencing the anxiety teachers are putting on these kids this week?

Silly teachers. Their career only depends on your child's performance on these tests.

Don't blame a teacher. Blame those in Albany.

My daughter's teacher has a huge sign in her room that reads, "Your worth as a human being can never be measured by a pen and pencil test." Needless to say, my daughter isn't stressed about these tests.

...a sign written by a teacher who clearly doesn't give a sh it.

I'll have you know that teachers (myself included) are very upset that we have to put these poor kids through all of this testing. Yes, blame Albany for sure. We are stressed out, but our discussions in faculty rooms, etc., are hardly about our jobs with all of this. We long for our kids to be able go back to the days were learning can be fun and sress free again.

"Stanwix," the majority of us do give a sh it. This is out of our control. Weve been writing to Albany talking to our unions etc.,but we also need the parents to step up to the plate to make a change.

Do your job better and drop the union.

And to boot, NYSED doesn't have a clue about any of this. Guess where the children of Commission King attend... his children won't be in a school where this field testing will occur because they go to private school. Thank you for doing your best!! We do appreciate it.

Teachers today are mere puppets. Spoon feeding students useless material and forcing them to regurgitate it on ridiculous tests, all against their will.

All parents have to do is have their children refuse the test.

What can we do as parents? I heard of some people having their kids refuse to do the test. Is that good or bad for them? Please advise, I trust your opinion.

This is a perfect example of out children being put on a battlefield and used as collateral while several organizations do battle at their expense. The teachers are all crying poor me the tests are too hard and NYSUT is right there backing them. My child had been a consistent honor roll student and had become riddled with anxiety over this nonsense.

To see a child placed directly in the crosshairs of our state's bureaucratic system which has plagued by corruption for years is all the more reason to teach them what's going on and why they need to leave NY someday!

If your child really was an honor student, there would be nothing to worry about, hence no anxiety issue. The fact is, your child has anxiety from the mental abuse you put them under trying to be that perfect little honor student.

Nothing to worry about. UCSD will get their usual 1 out of 4 on all the tests in every grade. The suburbs will get their usual 4 out of 4. The kids in Utica are subject to stupid teachers hired under the friends and family plan by a corrupt school board. These teachers were all at the very bottom of their class all the way through school but they are related to Uncle Lou, Uncle Tony, Uncle Guido on the board. The teachers hired in the suburbs actually can teach and were at least at the upper third of all of their educational classes. They earned their positions. It's as simple as that.

Bwahahaha! There is TONS of nepotism in he suburbs, pal. Anybody who was in the "upper third of their educational classess" left the area and didn't look back. Get real.

also, many of the current teachers in the UCSD never went to school in Utica to begin with!

I believe the previous poster was talking about college as in "education classes." After being forced to send my kids to the Proctor asylum and then later moving to New Hartford, I can say from experience the difference in quality between the teachers in the schools is a river wide. In Utica, a bumper crop of Italian connected teachers who talk like dis and dat and don't know der subject material from a meatball. In New Hartford, the teachers are refined, educated and have actually mastered the English language. You won't hear east utica guttural sounds and bad grammar coming out of their mouths.

Yet most teachers in the UCSD aren't Italians at all! Great way to express your bigotry though. Hopefully your kid is smart enough not to learn from you.

You need to get back to your job at the utica district. You've been posting all morning when you should have been teaching--but then that's nothing new for you is it? I'll bet your students don't notice if you're there or not for all the good that you do. Try earning your politically appointed keep, loser.
