The state police can demand access to these records anytime, and no warrant is necessary.
According to Joseph F. Palumbo, the gun shop owner, he was given 24 hours to comply with the request he received last Thursday (Aug. 28) and on Friday he handed over approximately 170 customer records.

The Niagara Falls Reporter running a story on a hick gun shop owner getting busted for selling illegally-modified AR-15s does not equate to a ban on all semi-auto guns in NYS.

The gun was legal when sold. It had a fixed magazine. The guy who bought it changed it to make the magazine remove able

Gee, I wonder if the couple of the domestic complaint got their $500 reward for blowing in the neighbor? Also, will they qualify for each customer on the gun dealer's list that gets busted? Now, everyone on that list that purchased anything related to an AR-15, will be cross referenced against the list of registered AR-15 owners, and those not registered will be visited by troopers with a search warrant.
