Utica is not a college town. Austin Texas is. Why? Austin has several colleges the main being the 65,000 student University of Texas. Not exactly Utica College. It's like comparing apples with peanuts.

Visit Panchito's in Syracuse for how a place like this should be run. Went once to Jonz and it sucked just like Moe's.

No surprise, the food was sh!t Chips out of a bag, salsa out of a #10 can, and meat out of a crock pot. Why this guy thought he was going to change the world with slop is beyond me. And blaming Utica for his failure is ridiculous, Rio Grande does just fine. Of course, everything there is homemade, so they're nothing like Burrito Jonz.

Food sucked plain and simple, the true test is to see how well Pedro's kitchen does right next to Moe'e in N.H . If they make it Jonz surely could of made it if he had some quality not canned slop.

If you thought he failed miserably in Utica, which he did, wait until he tries Oneonta. Town full of broke ass college students and broke ass crackheads. Makes Utica look like Malibu. Have fun John!

When you go to their facebook page I see a number of celebrities "endorsing" Burrito Jonz. I wonder if they obtained their permission to use their pictures in these advertisements....

I love Burrito Jonz. But I'm not coming to Utica to get a burrito. Herkimer maybe. Oneonta for sure.

Using Sysco foods? All the taco trucks would run him out of business with flavor alone. Even the "fake" Texans in Austin learn what real texmex is like, and would probably laugh them off the street.

WHY the fck are we welcoming more mexican eateries??? Is this a sign we should expect a massive influx of mexicalis once obamarama signs off on granting mass citizenship to the 20 million illegalis in these united states??? I hope they all fail so the fckin wetback horde steers clear. We have enough "foreigners" infesting the area. Need I say more?

This guy is blacklisted and will never get a loan, grant or even credit with suppliers. He's a total dead beat.

The taxpayers in Herkimer should definitely demand their politicians do something.

Getting the money back from him is going to be like getting blood from a stone.

Who is his accountant? Does he pay taxes? I heard he pays people a little bit on the books but the majority of it "under the table."

He's gonna reap what he's sown sooner or later.

The funniest thing is if you check out his facebook page, he rants and raves about government programs like welfare and Obama. And here he is basically stealing.

Burrito Jonz Owner Robbed of $30K in Mexico

HERKIMER – Burrito Jonz owner John Winter was in police custody Thursday in Acapulco, Mexico, after being robbed at knifepoint of a suitcase containing approximately $30,000 in U.S. cash, according to the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City.

Winter, 59, faces extradition to the U.S. where he will be charged with defrauding the county and village of Herkimer of funding he received to open a Burrito Jonz Tex-Mex eatery on Main Street in Herkimer. The $30,000 in the stolen suitcase is believed to be the funds he received from the county Industrial Development Agency and the village.

Winter was robbed Tuesday afternoon by two masked assailants after leaving a brothel in downtown Acapulco, authorities said. Described as “highly intoxicated,” Winter was taken into custody as a fugitive on a warrant from the U.S. Department of Justice after identifying himself to police as “Carlos Danger,” according to U.S. Embassy spokesman Freak N. Hilarious.

Winter’s attorney, Ben Dover Taxpayers, said his client was in Mexico researching burrito recipes and recruiting Mexican cooks to come to Herkimer and work at Burrito Jonz “to create an authentic and unmatched Mexican culinary experience for the people of Herkimer County.”

“Mr. Winter brought a large sum of cash with him to show to prospective employees in Acapulco and assure them of the lucrative career opportunities that would await them in Herkimer as cooks at the finest Mexican restaurant in Central New York,” said Ben Dover Taxpayers.“Unfortunately he ran afoul of the wrong individuals.”

Burrito Jonz was originally scheduled to open in Herkimer in June 2012.
