I thought that there was a weight restriction to be a police officer??? or at least a physical requirement. All the pictures i have seen lately are of overweight UPD employees!!!

Thoughts?

I've thought the same thing as Wondering. The same holds true for the Sherrif patrol. The people who appear in the news seem overweight at best, obese at worst.

Its hard to stay in shape when ur in a car patroling for eight hours. I gained 20 pounds in 7 years on the job. By the time I retire I won't be able to get out of the car.

20 lbs in 7 years. ok but i am sure you still take the time to try to keep in shape, these monkeys at UPD just sit in the dunkin donuts parking lot and eat, and eat, and eat then sit there and talk instead of patrolling, so whats their excuse?

Just an idea, maybe we need for the police once a week each of them need to walk the beat. I think it helps when cops get out there and meet the public.

What a great idea, then they will know the people, people will see them and behind this all they will actually get some exercise!! do you really want some 4 ft 3 450 lbs police officer trying to chase down a fugitive on foot when the only exercise he has gotten was bent elbow from Dunkin donuts!

So they are either fat or on the juice. I think someone just doesn't like the police.

Only an IQ restriction: 90 or below. And you have to pass a personality test: no personality.

You do need to be smart enough to feed yourself and lie under oath.

Why do you think they are in a ten year plan to rebuild a mile stretch of the "arterial".

I'm surprised the UPD doesn't acquire minivans with ramps for some of those wide bodies.
