Were you at theUC game? Easily 1000 empty seats
The published attendance for the UC hockey game was a "paid attendance of 3,815" which is considered a sell out as that is the same number as the Comets home opener. It doesn't mean everybody that bought a ticket went to the game. UC season tickets are cheap and they sold over 1,800 of them. I know people who bought season tickets even though they only plan on attending about half of the games. Their reasoning was to support the program and they like to be able to sit in the same seats when they do go to the game.

Go to your comets games, get your fill of beer, live up to your 'wackedandjacked' handle; then go home and sleep it off.
Your posts all sound like you are on the Comets payroll, and you have no credibility.

Two entirely different business models. UC hockey is very much in line with the local demographic. Comets are an entirely different type of hockey. Apples and Oranges. Either way the area wins. I wish both organizations success. Take your pick or like both. Exciting elements all the way around for everyone. As was stated earlier Comets fan attendance numbers will grow as they win and better jobs arrive in the next few years. No need to argue or put fan bases down .

Comets will be a dead team soon and the Comets will hurt UC attendance a lot. 2 teams in 1 dead city is stupidity. Kinda common sence people.

"Comets will hurt UC attendance a lot."

And you make this baseless statement after UC sells out their opener and sells a record number of season tickets. What facts do you have to back up your own personal opinion?

How about waiting a few months before jumping to rash conclusions.

I agree completely and wish both teams the best of success on and off the ice.

Was at game last night,a lot different than Comet's hockey. Comets are faster paced, crisper passes, more physical, louder fans. To each his own,I hope both teams do well. I will continue to support UC and Comet's hockey ! I have 2 season tickets for both.

Last nights game may have been "sold out" but there were a lot of empty seats. Students get in for free, so it's a pretty safe bet most of the empty seats were just "no shows." As for the crowd, many were students that had little interest in the game, but were there, "just for something to do," and can't blame them....there's just not a lot to do in Utica, especially for that age group.

not gonna happen. uc has its own fan base and quit honestly will survive if 10 people show up to each game.uc doesn't need fans to have a program. the comets will not affect uc crowds at all. the only thing i see affecting the crowd size is actually parking and bathrooms. i wouldnt be surprised if the crowds go down a little just because the building is way too crowded at 3500 plus fan, even 3000 starts to get tight. its about right in the 2500-2800 area.

I agree with pretty much all of Wackedandjacked posts -- I am not on the Comets payroll. Some of us are enjoying the AHL hockey experience in Utica -- although we all would agree that a win would be nice. But the hockey and atmosphere at the games has been terrific. This should not be a Utica College v. Utica Comets argument. Way too small minded.

First, WTF about a "full slap shot"??? For a "PRO HOCKEY" fan, you're a f-ing idiot. And, "no fighting"? You're living proof of why the Comets won't succeed. Skip the games and tune into WWF. You'll save money and be a lot happier. You're not a hockey fan; you're a moron.(Oh, and they already won a game...)
Careful who you call a moron. It hasn't been WWF in YEARS.
