Well, it has finally happened.... The OG will be a new staple on the commercial drive landscape in a year and a half! The company just finalized the land deal and should start building pretty soon. Going in the empty lot right past men's warehouse. Probably got a good deal on that land seeing that it sat vacant for the last 5 years! All your prayers have been answered my frineds the OG will be here soon.

That land has been vacant since at least the 1980's. That was all filled in somewhere along the way when Commercial Drive was only 2 lanes.

Why would anyone of sound mind think that a glorified Italian Ponderosa would be a viable and desirable eatery in a community of some of the best authentic Italian eateries in the state? I would hope that any Italian worth half their weight in Marinara sauce wouldn't be caught dead in there. If so, the Sons of Italy should come to your home and shoot you for being an idiot. Now if the Irish, Bosnians,Polish and African Americans want to go there thinking that it's great Italian food let'em go there and choke on it!

By the way, I've never personally been to one, but my dumbazz brother has. He said he couldn't shit for four days. He said it was like eating Ready Mix Concrete.

I am 100% Italian. I have had dinner at the Olive Garden in Syracuse. When you are use to authentic italian food - OG is not it. I can't see it going over in Utica with all the great "real" italian dining establishments in this area. Just my personal opninion.

Actually, It has been in the works for a long time on that site. The did the measurments and layout last summer. This is old news. As for being empty for years. It was planned that way. It was a horrible site and the owner made a deal with the state to fill it grade it for free if they allowed they state to use it in the repaving and expansion of commercial drive. I agree though, the food stinks. but its the price people care about. In the next hundred years, people will have forgotton what real food is.... the way of the world I guess..

Why not tear down the Men's Warehouse and build an Olive Garden, not too many suit-wearing people in the area.
I'd rather see a Texas Roadhouse instead. Give The Outback a little better competition for a change. BTW - I hate The Outback too. Too expensive and food the is sh!tty.

I prefer Macaroni Grill. Yum! I wouldn't mind a Chile's. Though I do have to agree, I really get turned off by chain restaurants coming in, and putting up pictures of local events/people in an attempt to call themselves a part of the community and neighborhood. Just kind of gay.

But, some of them have some good food sometimes. It can be a nice change up.

Olive Garden hit it's peak in popularity about 20 years ago. Romanos Macaroni Grill and Carabba's cleaned their clock a few years ago. Now they're coming to Utica? Next thing you know we will have a new KMart!

Being Italian doesn't give you any bragging rights. The whole country is a bunch of pansy ass, hairy people who just cry all the time. Oh! The war on terror is bad, oh my spaghetti!! LoL
