Police say she was attending an assembly at the North Albany Academy on North Pearl Street when she got up on stage and started dancing and taking off her clothes.

The assembly was dismissed immediately and Meaders was arrested without incident.

An Albany City Court clerk says Meaders was arraigned Friday afternoon and ordered held on $3,500 bail. She doesn't have a lawyer yet.

The North Albany Academy is a pre-kindergarten through eighth grade school in the Albany district.

2nd Arrest Made 2 Months After Wayne County Double Murder

Deputies have made another arrest in a Wayne County shooting late last year that killed two people and wounded two others.

Kevin Raiford of Dudley is now charged in the December 3rd deaths of Jamaal Kornegay and Nakiea Garner in Wayne County.

The two cousins were killed in a home on Old Mount Olive Highway, while two others were wounded. Jujuan Cox was arrested the day after for the shootings, while Raiford was caught Tuesday. Deputies haven't said what a possible motive was.

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM)-

Police said an argument between a Columbus couple took a violent turn when a man set his girlfriend on fire.

The victim was caught in this fire long enough to receive second and third-degree burns on her hands and face.

Robert Williams, 35, is in jail, charged with aggravated assault and battery. Police said he poured lighter fluid on his girlfriend Valleri Smith in the bedroom of their Havenbrook Court apartment and then set her on fire Tuesday morning.

Neighbors said after emergency crews arrived, they could tell right away that this was not a normal fire.

"I saw all the fire trucks and stuff. After I found out what happened, I thought, why should it have happened like that when they could have solved it another way?" said Cornell Bryant.

"I feel like, if [she]was going to leave him, he should have just left... I didn't even know they were fighting," said Geayye Geoe.

The blinds in the apartment window are warped and melted, evidencing the amount of heat the fire must have produced.

Smith, 44 was burned so severely, she needed to be treated at a hospital in Atlanta. Her family said she was released from surgery Wednesday afternoon.

She is currently being treated at the burn center in Augusta, GA. Family members are asking the public for prayers as Smith remains in critical condition.

A judge set Williams' bond at $100,000 Wednesday morning and he is still behind bars.

Although he had not been identified as a suspect, they all agreed after the family meeting and after speaking with a counselor that Jamall should meet with police and tell his story.
Afterward, he was arrested and charged in Summit County Juvenile Court on charges of aggravated murder, robbery and burglary. Prosecutors have said they want to try Jamall as an adult and will seek a life sentence in prison.
Carswell said her son does not deserve to be treated as an adult. She said he was threatened and coerced into traveling with Ford to the Schoberts’ home. Further, she said, her son did not take part in the killings, but rather heard and watched Ford attack the couple at separate times.
“I know he was there with the boy,” Carswell said.“And even if he knew they were going there to take something, charge him with robbery. But I don’t think he should be charged with aggravated murder for being manipulated by an 18-year-old. He’s never been a violent kid. He’s never been involved in gangs, nothing.”
Ford was dating the Schoberts’ daughter, Chelsea, an 18-year-old high school senior, at the time of the attack on her parents. Weeks earlier, police say, Ford beat and slashed her during an assault March 23 in Akron.

ATHENS, Ga.-- Athens-Clarke County Police have arrested the mother of a newborn baby boy killed Thursday in Athens. mom accused of stabbing son 100 times

According to Assistant Chief of Police Fred Stephens, 21-year-old Cassandra Elyse Norwood was charged with murder and booked into the Athens-Clarke County jail Friday morning. They issued the arrest warrant Thursday night after interviews with family members.

The 911 call came in around 1 p.m. Thursday from the 170 block of Great Oak Drive in East Athens. The infant's body was discovered bearing possible stab wounds and cuts hours after being born.

CLEVELAND — A Cleveland man has been arrested in connection to a brutal attack against the mother of his children, Fox 8 News reports.

Cleveland police say Johnny Douglas Whitfield, 35, was arrested Friday morning on accusations that he struck Arela Leidy several times in the head with a hammer as their two children slept in a nearby room.

Whitfield, police say, then fled the scene in Leidy’s car, which officers later recovered.

Cleveland police had been looking for Whitfield ever since the alleged attack on the evening of October 25.

Leidy’s family told Fox 8 News that the couple had been broken up for two years, but still lived in the same home together for the sake of their children.

Relatives also said they believed Whitfield attacked Leidy when she was sleeping.

Leidy is in a medically-induced coma in the Intensive Care Unit at a local hospital.

Whitfield was charged with felonious assault and was being held in Cleveland’s Central Prison Unit.

Further details were not immediately released by Cleveland police.
