Eagle Hill does not take the care to ensure pets are at ease or clean. Waterville is by far the better option, and I'm sure there are others out there at the equally as good. I do not trust Eagle Hill and will never go there again. It now makes sense to me why my pets were scared to go there, this is not the case at Waterville, they are eager to jump out of the car. Save yourself the peace of mind and take your pet elsewhere.

BOCES animal program has been trying to get a student in there for job shadowing- they refuse to allow any shadowing..I also find it weird my dogs always smell like they have just been bathed before pickup...if anyone doubts their sketchiness show up extra early to pick up your pet (they r strict on making sure u come at exact times they set so purposely come unexpected and demand your dog without the "bath treatment")

Will never use Eagle Hill again. We boarded 2cats & our 14 year old dog.
When I picked the dog up to put her in the car she was soaking wet from her own urine. Obviously she had been left to sit in her urine for the 6 days she was there. I shutter to think about what would have become of her had we been away any longer. The cats were ok, but wouldn't trust these people again

I have only had good times at Eagle Hill, I know a few people who used to take their dogs to Waterville and have had bad experiences with them.
I whole heartedly would recommend Eagle Hill to anyone wanting to have a safe and loving place to leave their "fur".8892

DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG HERE. Our dog is 10, well mannered and affable. She has never been 'upset' until spending a night at Eagle Hill. We left her against my better judgement- after walking into an indoor kennel area with no windows- where each cage was stuffed with too many dogs and no doors were open, to the runs they feature so prominently in their ads. The place smelled so rancid my eyes watered- but the woman- who was pushy and not interested in listening to my questions- assured me that the dogs were 'about to go out for a pee'...that 'all was well'. Why they had to be 'let out' is beyond me- the cages were ATTACHED to dog runs. My guess- now- after picking up our traumatized dog is that they leave the in their tiny cages so they only have to clean one area. I wonder if the dogs have ever been out, except when/if the owners decide to spray down a cage or two? The place could be amazing- but it is a nightmare. Please report any findings to your local ASPCA in Rome, NY. They will be all over this place soon, I should think.

Our dog is so sick right now, we have to leave her on a tarp. She is 9 and has never been sick one day in her life. The people there are a disgrace and I feel for any dog left in their care. They stuff the kennels with too man dogs, never let them out and then clean them up when their owners arrive. What the hell is wrong with these people? DON'T TRUST THEM WITH YOUR DOG.

Warning to any animal lovers out there who board their dogs at Eagle Hill right off the NYS Thruway. My family has been boarding our beloved pets there for years...they would give us a pick-up time and our pets would smell wonderful, like they just had a bath...BUT...one weekend we came back unannounced, walked in and the owner was completely shocked and said he would go in the back to retrieve our dog. I insisted on following- he gave me a bit of a hard time- but I went and came across my dog standing in about a foot of his own feces. The other animals in cages had feces all over their cages as if they had been stuffed in the crate and left to suffer. These people only care about the $$$, stuff your dog in a small crate and take them out right before you are scheduled to return and give the dog a bath because they leave them to suffer in their own shit.
My sister is also enrolled in the BOCES Animal Services program- her instructor went to Eagle Hill to work out an internship slot so a student could shadow the workers and get a feel for that part of taking care of an animal in a kennel and they turned her away...the owner actually got extremely defensive and chased her out refusing to allow students to shadow there...skettttchy!
DON'T BRING YOUR PETS THERE!!!
Our dog is so sick, six days after we had her there one night. We had to get her early and called- but the owner said he wasn't there. We waited almost two hours for someone to show up, after they had advertised that they had 24/7 care- that they LIVED on the premises. Also, it was clear to us that she had not been out since we left her. And the dog kennels in that windowless room were STUFFED with dogs, full of feces and urine- and filthy. We should have just called the police then and there. This place is abusive and filthy and the owners should be arrested for animal cruelty.

Horrified Dog Owner- our dog was in the vet twice in the two weeks since we trusted Eagle Hill with her- for 15 hours. We had to tarp our house, too. She is on heavy duty anti-biotics now and starting to recover. These people should be arrested

We have heard that Eagle Hill used to have different owners- and it used to be good. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE. Our dog has been ill for two weeks since we left her for 15 hrs there. We picked her up early and found the place up to dog's bellies in feces and urine. They had not been let out since we left her- despite having outdoor runs attached/available...they looked/smelled completely unused. Three and four dogs were stuffed into kennels that were barely big enough for one dog. We called the police. If you have a similar experience- report them. This is criminal.

We could not agree more. Our dog is just getting over a horrible illness, and it has been two weeks since we left her at Eagle Hill. We showed up early to pick her up and she was in a filthy cage that looked as if she had not been let out or cleaned since we left her, 15 hrs earlier. She is a very valuable German Shepherd with impeccable manners and perfect health. But her bed was so disgusting when we picked her up and there was blood on it- no doubt from them trying to stuff another dog in w/her. All the other tiny cages had as many as 3 or 4 dogs in cages small for one dog. Why they don't let the dogs out into their runs is beyond all reason. We reported these people and hope others whose dogs are neglected/abused their do so, as well. PROTECT YOUR DOGS FROM THESE HORRIBLE PEOPLE.

I have taken my dogs to Eagle Hill for the last 20years, they are the same owners, and my dogs have allways come home happy and relaxed, more than can be said for waterville vets who had to turn dogs away last week because of a Kennel Cough outbreak (a friend at work was going to leave her dog there!!!!)She called Eagle HIll and they were very accomodating.
Only good things to sy about this kennel
I am amazed that you had a good experience. The owners were rude,'off' and their kennels were filthy, disgusting pits of feces. Our perfectly healthy, valuable German Shepherd came out of there with the worst stomach ailment our vet had ever seen. She has finally started to recover, with the help of antibiotics and careful diet, rest, but our house is tarped because she was literally leaking putrifying fluids- that smelled exactly like Eagle Hill when we surprised them by picking her up early. The kennels looked like the dogs (some 2=3-4 to a cage) had been stuffed in and left to rot in their own feces. Read the other 30+ reviews... there is no way to overstate how bad this place is.We were shocked- because on the outside- it was beautiful. But the dogs were in a windowless inner room- hell on earth. This place should be shut down and the owners held accountable.

No- it is hell on earth for a dog. Try arriving early and surprising them. We called the ASPCA. It is a disgrace and our dog is still sick- two weeks later. We are so upset that we trusted her to these beasts.

Wow....makes me so made to read about this place. How can they stay in business? I wrote the HSUS once about an issue and they got right on it. It doesn't hurt to call that organization, or try ASPCA. Someone needs to investigate!

We boarded our two dogs this past spring break.. My husband didnt call where we normally board them until 2 weeks before vacation and it was full. Pet Motel Rte 20 outside of Bridgewater. Eagle Hill is a business, they do not do it for the love of animal, its purely for the money. We take our dogs all the time to the Pet Motel, the owner loves animals our dogs love him. He gives them attention and lets them run around outside in fenced in area, doesnt charge for "play" time like Eagle Hill. Eagle Hill doesnt allow you to see where your dogs are going to be either. After we dropped off our dogs my husband was feeling uncomfortable because we were not allowed to go in the back.. Lesson learned never ever again..and believe me we do NOT recommend it to anyone with pets..
