I would recommend Waterville to anyone. Great staff, they truely care about the animals and the environment is super.
That Eagle Hill was sold years back to this new couple, who really aren't all that friendly or great with the animals. Our experience with them also just left us with an odd, not so right feel...so we went to Waterville instead and have never looked back.

I have taken my dogs to Eagle Hill for the last 20years, they are the same owners, and my dogs have allways come home happy and relaxed, more than can be said for waterville vets who had to turn dogs away last week because of a Kennel Cough outbreak (a friend at work was going to leave her dog there!!!!)She called Eagle HIll and they were very accomodating.
Only good things to sy about this kennel

When was this place sold? I took my dog there a few times for a 3-4 day stay while I was out of town 2 years ago. The owners were very busy but seemed like good people. I did pay for play time and will never know if it was given. We did send food there and the food that came home with the dog did NOT equal to what they were suppose to feed her. More came home than should have. But as far as smelling and cleanliness, my dog was fine. If its the same owners that have been there since 2 years ago I say they are good.

prob the same, british I believe, but they are the "newer" owners than the folks who had it for many many years and had really built it's reputation.
Waterville...hey I'm not saying they're perfect, or any one place can't have one bad thing happen, but overall I can say I haven't heard near the bad things as I have in years past about EH and a few others.
The important thing is you leave your pet where you feel secure and hopefully nothing happens to change that sense of good.

I must say I've not found any of the above comments to be true in my experience with Eagle Hill. I've taken my 90lb Yellow Lab there on three occasions when I have to travel, and I've been very happy with the service and staff. Not once have they been anything but cordial, all while being very professional. I do take notice of a place when I enter, and if it were not for the dog food they have, you'd never know there were animals around. Its always been clean and odor free, something I watch and check for when leaving my dog anywhere. My dog is happy to see them when he gets there, tail wagging 100 miles per hour, something he would not do if he had a bad experience while staying there. I also take note of how organized a place is, and find that these folks are just that - very well organized, and followed my requests to the letter, including my dogs Dasuquin which he takes daily. When I pick him up, he's happy, smells and looks great - no urine or other odors as reported above. I have no reservations about leaving my best friend in their care while I'm away.

As the above poster stated you have to feel secure wherever you leave your pet. Just watch for the signs that I'm afraid I may have overlooked because I was too trusting and did feel secure...up until the past few years. We've been going to EH for 20+ years with our pets. Time for a change.

We also won't be going back after 12 years. Our dogs were beyond stressed and I also was too trusting to acknowledge it. We had to have our dog hospitalized after her last visit due to severe hot spots that could not be touched or treated until she was put under anesthetic. They also refused to let us go back and look at the accomodations. I feel bad but my loyalty is gone. I thought I was doing the responsible thing. Our dogs happiness and health is more important. We will hire a sitter to come to our home from now on for their happiness and our piece of mind.

Let me tell ya, not only does waterville have the best vets around, their animal resort kennels are unreal. They get care just as good as your own home. You ought to see this place. I showed up unexpectedly and they said, go see him, workers cleaning cages like every 20 minutes, talking to the animals etc. Very clean, there is a vet on premises 24 hrs a day.

that place is just the best. I cant trust anyone but them, ever.

I used eagle hill along with a friend at the same time, both our dogs caught kennel cough and ran out of the place upon pick up as if poorly treated. I dont recommend them.

Critter Sitters comes to your house and walks and feeds your dogs for you. A very nice lady runs that business.

it's sad to say that anywhere you leave your dog, you never know what they do to them. We used to bring our dog to Brandykeg kennel in Frankfort (now closed - owner retired) That place was great, she even brought our dog in her house one time because he was crying. She is missed, and there is no place that will ever come close to the care that place gave the dogs. That place was also clean as a whistle! She sent oout Christmas cards to all her customers attn: the dog's name.

Our shih tzu loves the resort! The staff treats her just like their own! We feel so safe and comfortable leaving her with them because of the access to the vet clinic right next door. She's always so clean when we pick her up and we can tell she's had a great vacation away at the resort!:)

I used to bring my dodie to eagle hill until the one time when I overheard the owners screaming at each other in a back room.I thought that I was going to have to intervene as the husband seemed like he was going to hurt his wife. Hearing their british accent's made the whole experience that much more bizzare. Also, imagine how they treat the pets if they dont listen or ruin something. I truely believe they are capeable of psychologically and physically abuse of the pets in their care!!!!!!!!!!

Eagle hill has gone way down! I will never take my dogs there again..both dogs were soaked and remaking with urine the last time I picked them up.I think Hamish is abusing his wife and she is afraid of him ..Im afraid of him too. He flew off the handle because the dog didn't finish breakfast and I asked if he could put it in with him..something is not right there.

I brought my dog to Eagle Hill once for grooming about 15 years ago. There was nothing specific wrong that I could see, I just got a weird feeling from the guy. Rude, seemed surprised to see me and a bit 'off'. I didn't take my dog back. It's not like they can tell you when something happens so better to err on the side of caution.

Well, update...my dog has infectious hepatitus and since I am meticulously clean and he is never with other dogs, pretty sure this came from boarding at Eagle hill...guess all the warnings posted above about urine and feces are not just filthy but potentially fatal.
