the answer was a response to someone questioning SAT scores at ND verses other schools. Great SAT scores and GPA result in IVY offers. Don't happen much at ND.
Very few great students would turn down an IVY school like Harvard or Yale to go to SU or the like, unless they were an extremely great athlete with lots of offers. Also, many athletes who attend IVYs do not pay for education either, it's called academic scholarship
That's not true. My oldest attended an Ivy League University and there weren't any academic scholarships . All the students accepted there were exceptional . There are scholarships for need, and if your child happens to be an athlete, his/ her chances are better for a scholarship. At least that was the case back then.

You are mistaken, I know for a certainty that is how it is. That even exists in D3 schools, the best athletes there don't pay hardly anything either

The high school memory for many students is long lasting one, it lasts a lifetime! The fondness with which alums remember their school, classmates, coaches, teachers and principals can have a profound effect on the spirit of the school and ultimately charitable giving. Notre Dame has never embrace the alums, volunteers, faculty and the significant wealth that exists within this community in any meaningful way. A Bucky Dent dinner here, a class Reunion party there. That's it! Throughout the years the Diocese has chosen to put "good shepherds" and the "faithful followers" in positions of authority. The current administration is part of that. The reality is the current administration struggles with how to effectively run a school or any institution of higher learning for that matter. So what you see right now- what you are witnessing, is an implosion and they don't know how to stop it. A meaningful change can only occur when a change in leadership is recognized. The school is not a fun place for anyone---including the students. There are no cheering sections, no cheerleaders, no pep rallies, fan support has vanished, no school dances, you name it. Very sad indeed and that's the Truth!

It is long past time for ND to close its doors for the last time. Anything that it was is long past and there is no hope for a resurrection. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, and down for the third time. Anything anyone does now is comparable to rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic in hopes of a happy ending.

Leave me alone you nasty people. I am so upset over all of this that I can barely cuddle with my girlfriend. I have been extremely mean to my half retarded Athletic Director because of the stress you people have put on me.

BA you are going too far topix is now your forum to bash people who don't go along with every thing you say this whole thread is bogus. Your daughter came home Tuesday and said people will be going to school for free now. The kids are on vacation and don't you think the athletes that are already there would be trying to get free tuition since you of all people know they don't go for free no one goes for free. And if you truly are some random alumni and not BA why not just ask them if they pay tuition. This is all BS by BA move on everything that is on here is all stuff you say in person translated on topix now your mad so all the things you did to down Proctor you are now putting on ND just walk away before you lose what little integrity you have left. And for all you people who think any kid goes to ND for free you are so wrong will the school offer help based on need yes but that is no different than any other private school in America. Grow up this has been dragging on too long it's over.

Let's compare the two. What does ND offer students that Proctor doesn't? The only course you can get at ND that Proctor doesn't offer is religion. There are dozens of courses Proctor offers that ND doesn't.
Not courses. Courses aren't everything. Think environment. If you work in a factory you are going to walk, talk and think like a factory worker. If you work in a professional office you are going to walk, talk, think and act like a professional office worker. We are as much a product of our environment as we are what we are taught in the courses we take. I'm not saying there aren't good kids at Proctor because I know for a fact there are. I'm saying the learning environment is different. I know that for a fact too.

Ive seen Byron alot since he left Notre Dame. The one thing he does not do is bash anyone. Its obvious you people come on here and make up anything you feel like due to an anonymous screen name. Ive never heard Byron bash any kid or bash notre dame. The admin is another issue. I know he wasnt pleased with the admin or the direction of the school. If you have an issue with him I do know he's very approachable. No need to spread untruths with anonymous post just to keep the gossip train moving.

I'm not sticking up for anyone, but have you ever read "Walden Pond" by Henry David Thoreau? Now there are some run-on sentences.

Yes, ND has 1 computer lab and it has 3 computers---Apple 2c computers--you know, the floppy disc kind.

That just shows that the money isn't making it to the classroom.
