Utica needs to lower their tax rate, as does the County before more homeowners sell their homes and move elsewhere.

Only 30% of Utica's residents are paying all these taxes and most of them are Senior Citizens living on fixed incomes.

Another step is to start putting restrictions of the eligibility for welfare benefits:

Every 3 months when ReCertification is done DRUG TEST every reciptant - if drugs show up, cut off the Welfare benefits!!!!!! If they can afford to use drugs - they can afford to buy food for themselves.

Put a limit on the number of children unmarried women can be eligible for an increase in benefits. This would include Food Stamps, Medicaid, and cash assistance. Limit it to 2 children; if they don't know about free Birth Control at Planned Parenthood, that is their choice to support all the children they bring into this world and not take care of them.

Make ALL Welfare receipants WORK for the amount of benefits they receive. There is plenty of Public Works jobs they can do.(mow lawns, shovel snow covered sidewalks for businesses, etc.)

These are just a few - I'm sure some of you can add to this list.

Take a look at all the people that UPD arrest - 90% of them are black!!!!!!

Go to Walmart at the 1st of the month when all the Welfare checks and Food Stamps come out and watch how they act - just like primates let out of their cages for a day.

Blacks have no values or morals and no shame. They all act like primates and need to be treated like them - in a cage.

Maybe YOU would like to live next door to one; I certainly wouldn't.

This statement is pretty spot on. Sure there are respectable black families in the area, but the majority of blacks act like savages. Drive through corn hill. They destroyed it. Garbage everywhere. No respect for anything. They are just so uncivilized. Its a sad shame.

Actions speak louder than words.
I live in Utica, for some reason it says New Hartford. I would not trade moving from here even if I made three times more money. Some people just don't get it. My happiness comes from the great many people and friends that I made here. Plus, I feel that it's an awesome city This place defines me and who I am and I could not be prouder from where I'm from.

Interesting what defines people with the negative comments is to put others down. You certainly can't be proud of where you are from if you spend your time on Utica topics trashing us.

Utica is a city with a bright future that will rival it's best days of the past.

To bring the existing sewer system up to spec is going to cost $265 million dollars. Until that's done the city will continue to pump millions of gallons of human waste into the Mohawk River.

To bring the city's streets up to basic DOT standards will cost $170 million dollars.

Where exactly is all this money going to come from? Mind you, this is just the money needed to bring things up to a minimum standard. It doesn't include the millions needed *every year* to maintain those standards.

Tell me how that's going to happen and I might give your naive rah-rah mentality a little more credence.

Ooh. This should send the masses migrating in. I believe the tournament was in lake placid last year so it sounds like the city must have had to beat out some tough competition.

The Problem

The problem with the video and that show is not the promotion of Utica. I love this city with all of my heart. I think we should be promoting it and the positive things happening.

The problem lies in it being so blatantly propaganda for politicians. Listen to how many times the mayor says "I", "me", and "my administration". It's embarrassing. You can promote the city without having the mayor and every other politician's mug on the screen every show. And the subtle positive news would actually help the politicians more. From a marketing standpoint, when you self promote too much, people tend to get spiteful and resent it. That distracts from the message, which should be the city and the people, not the politicians. They are too uneducated to get that.

I think most of the projects in the shows should be highlighted and promoted. But a little less of the propaganda would go a long way. The old saying "less is more" comes to mind. Take a look at historical propaganda videos and literature from dictators like Hitler, etc. Even they took a less "in your face" approach. I'm by no means comparing our politicians to Hitler, just the tactics of propaganda. I actually like Palmieri. I just wish he would calm down a bot and stop being so interested in self promotion. We have some good stuff going on and it should speak for itself. But putting your spin and mug in my face everyday inherently makes me feel uncomfortable.

22) don't shovel their walks
23) have low self esteem
24) detest diversity
25) will never change, and never listened to their parents and grandparents, because they "knew better"

don't get angry...feel sorry for them, they were all good kids at one point, they just let themselves down, and are too scared, or gutless to change their situation.
